Lamb for dinner

My mom bought me a seasoned lamb leg halved. I've never bought something like this. Thankfully, there are cooking instructions on the package. It says to put the meat in the oven at 325 F for 20-25 minutes per pound. Wondering if I should hold it for 20 minutes per pound or closer to 25. I don't want to overcook it. I hope it will turn out good. I already have cauliflower made so I don't think I need any other side. I was actually going to make it yesterday but we ended up cooking rib-eye steak. We slightly overcooked it as it was much thinner than we usually get but it was still delicious.

The lamb was pretty good, though there were some pieces that weren’t as easy to chew.

We produce a lot of lamb here in New Zealand, but most of it gets exported. Consequently it's ridiculously expensive for locals! Hope it turned out okay.

@lovebuglena one hint, you asked whether to cook for 20 or 25 minues per pound. When the 20 minutes is up, tst it by inserting sometthing sharp. If the juices flowing from that are clear you're good to go. If they're a bit pink, ook a bit longer. And, really important, rest for at least 10 minutes when out of the oven bbefore carving.

Weird that it is super expensive for locals. You'd think it be the other way around. I am about to put it in the oven.

@valmnz Thanks for the resting the meat reminder. I wonder if the package said that. Will check just out of curiosity. We have a meat thermometer actually but I don't like using it.

I hope the lamb turns out well. I've only cooked lamb a couple of times, so can't offer any suggestions.

@DaddyEvil taste was pretty good. I wish I knew what the marinade was though. I usually never buy meat that’s already marinated.

Lucky you, I love lamb and used to prepare leg of lamb but have not had any in ages, It is easy to ,do but as it gets tender you have to check that it remains just a little bit pink on the inside, I had a timer and would set it for each group of minutes, So when it first dinged I knew I had to set it for the next 20 and so on, I am sure your lamb will come out delicious,

My piece is 2.22 lbs. I put the timer for 55 minutes. But I may take it out slightly earlier.

You can always poke a skewer in it (if you don't have a meat thermometer). Red juices will seep out if it's slightly underdone but you might like it that way.

My mom got me a lot of meat. Lamb and beef. Aside from the steak and the lamb leg halved she also got us two packs of beef cheeks. I've never tried those or cooked them. I wonder if they have cooking instructions on the package. I did try veal cheeks at a restaurant recently and they were really good.
