More Questions than Real Answers—But We Should Want to Know

It would seem to me, and I think to most reasonable minded Americans, that the recent raid on former president Trump's Mar-A-Lago home is deeply entrenched in more than just an investigation into wrongdoing. It's just more of the same that we have dealt with for going on 7 years that started before Trump even took office. Someone is afraid. Certainly the establishment was very afraid, and I think that has a lot to do with everything we dealt with then and are dealing with now. Deep rooted fear. The thing is, Trump may well run for president again. It seems clear, even, that that's his intent. And despite all that has happened, and all of the negative press, he may actually even be able to win his second term after all. The Mar-A-Lago thing, when you think about it, is just another effort to try to quash any chance he may have—because the January 6th hearings turned out to be of little interest to anyone, and uncovered nothing new or enlightening. There were no smoking guns, and nothing has really been brought to light that we did not already know. All it has served to do is to try to quiet more people and create an image of "unscrupolous people" around Donald Trump. Polls show that the American people largely are not buying any of it. Neither is any of this having any impact on lessening the reality that the Biden administration is largely a failed one. Nor is it eroding support for Trump, among his base nor among the republican party itself. In fact, support for Trump is rising. Not falling. I actually think this is a good thing, and the reason I feel that way is because it gives me faith that the American people, whom I started to think were asleep at the wheel, are actually still quite engaged in the political scene and have a deep interest in knowing what is going on within our government. Was the election in 2020 stolen? No one knows. No one can make that claim with absoluteness. But there are, of course, many questions about that—and they are not questions without a basis for asking them. Whether or not the election was actually stolen is not the issue. The issue is if the American people are not willing to at least ask the question considering all of the events prior to 2020 and the ones that came after. When you think about it, the question isn't even necessarily a political one. It isn't one we ask or don't ask depending upon which party happens to be in charge and whether or not that party aligns with our own political positions. It's about America. It is about the integrity of our electoral process. It is a question of whether or not the people are making the decisions about who runs the country or if the establishment is dictating that decision for us. There was a time in this country when we held our leaders accountable, that politics were not a factor. We made decisions based on what were in the best interest of the country as a whole. Did Trump do anything wrong? I don't think anyone knows. A lot of people certainly suspect it. I think that the vast majority of people who are on that side of the fence, though, have those suspicions for the wrong reasons. Do we really want to know the truth or do we just want to see blood for the sake of seeing the blood of someone we happen to dislike? Because the truth matters. No matter whether it fits our desired outcome or narrative. It matters. I go back to the question of understanding that Trump received 10 million more votes in 2020 than he did in 2016 and Biden received the most votes ever in the history of U.S. presidential elections. Add in that prior to all of the mail in ballots being counted, Trump was actually winning. In the final hour it was as though someone had flipped a switch and turned the tables completely around. Maybe it was real. Maybe there was nothing not above board about that. But I think we still should be compelled to ask the question as hard as we were lead to ask the question about the Russians and the 2016 election. We should not so easily dismiss the 2020 claim while we were fully interested in the question about 2016. At the same time we should question the tenacity at which Trump was pursued throughout his term and the tenacity of how he is being pursued now. What is the purpose? What is the intent? And why are so many other important questions, at the same time, being dismissed or ignored on the other side? Is there something more going on? Is there something here that is very important for someone to want to hide? Is there a reason to cause a major distraction from all of these important questions? And what if Trump does run again? What if he wins? What do we learn then? Is the possibility of what we may learn if he is president again what is being feared? Is that the reason for the strong push to keep him out? To destroy him? Again, no one knows. But we should still be asking the questions and we should be interested in knowing the truth. Not the one we've made up our minds about. But the real truth. Because again, it matters. It really does. Love him or hate him, what matters more than anything is the country. America first was not just some slogan. It's a reality, and it is important far beyond our political motivations or interests. Parties are separate from anything else that matters. If someone has done something wrong that harms the country, by all means let's get to the bottom of that. But let's not accuse wrongdoing just because we dislike someone or because that person does not sit in the party we prefer to lead the country. What is the purpose of the Mar-A-Lago raid? No one knows yet. But the republican party, and frankly the American people, are right to demand answers from the FBI immediately. At the end of the day the bottom line is that we need to be interested in reality over what we desire. Truth over fiction. Accountability for just cause, and not for any other reason. I think if we keep an unbiased and open mind then we can have an open and honest debate about what is really happening—and moreover, what really happened. And when the truth is revealed, we can better process it and accept it for what it is. It is the American thing to do.

Of course it is the American thing to do. However that attitude went out the window when the new administration entered the White House. It is an attack. They are fearful. No I don't know what was in the boxes or the pockets of Melania's wardrobe (what a joke), but we are shown what is on Hunter's laptop and the emails Hillary white washed. Not deflecting, only stating some of the facts that will never be addressed.

More questions than answers and that is always the case, and of course it always depends on who is asking the question, and THESE days, what the other side wants the answer to be unfortunately. I always go back to the four years we listened to the democrats claim an election was stolen only to find the idea ridiculous NOW. What changed their minds? I just don't know what to think anymore. This world has literally gone nuts.

This attack by the current administration and the weaponized FBI begs me to question exactly what did they take into his home to plant. I believe most Americans could handle the truth as you said, in time. There is so much corruption within the government. Just like adding 87,000 new IRS agents. We all ought to be afraid of that.

Even more questions—nothing would surprise me anymore. It is interesting now that it seems Trump wants the documents released that lead to the raid. If he had something to hide, he would not do that. Which just further bolsters my thinking that this is not about an investigation, it is just more of the witch hunt we have dealt with for many years, and a reason to put something on the front page that sheds Trump in an erroneous bad light.

I wish the U.S.A to have no problem with the election next time.

I hope the same too. The last two elections have presented some very serious concerns about not only how our elections go, but seems to me there is too much focus on winning and not enough focus on governing.

The raid was connected to the National Archives. Those pesky archivists and librarians definitely are out to get him.

@porwest I would imagine if the GOP and Trump administration could have actually found something to use against Hillary then they would have. Weren't there like 10 investigations just on Benghazi alone?

@NJChicaa But here we are again. Was there this much of an intense operation to locate those missing emails from Hillary Clinton's "secret server" she had at her house which potentially compromised MANY classified documents? Why aren't we several years after that digging around? I am not attempting to make light of anything Trump may have done or is now accused of. But the entire point of the post is to ask ALL the questions of EVERYONE potentially doing something wrong. When one dismisses all other things— It screams of a witch hunt and nothing more.

@NJChicaa I think the answer to this is two-fold. The republicans felt there was much work to be done and that's what they decided to do. Get the work done. To focus on "political agendas" on the other side would have been counterproductive. Especially considering the optics of it all with all of the "investigations" going on into a fake stolen election (if you will recall) that Trump was accused of for four years. Trump also did not have control of the House. As for Benghazi, remember that Obama was the president at that time and he controlled the justice department. Obama had a lot to hide on that one too.

You bring up many excellent points, but other than having a back and forth among President Trump supporters and Trump haters no answers will be provided here. Like all social political posts both sides dig into their viewpoints, one side trying to follow where the facts lead in a rational sense, the other side based on emotion without regard to the consequences of their ideology on the majority of Americans. The liberal/radical view is that the end justifies the means and finding any way to rid themselves of Trump once and for all (no matter how unjustified or hypocritical) is fair game. After all it's for the good of society isn't it And look how great a shape the country is in with the current administration who has taken the divisive policies started by Obama to a "new level."

Yes. I don't know what really happened with this raid. Thanks for explaining.

All I will say is that IF there is something found that is legitimate and irrefutable, okay fine. I will have no choice but to accept it. Until then, it's just an extension of an ongoing witch hunt.
