It seems to me I’m not supposed to go to any golf tournaments this year, even though I’m not playing. I’ll muse about that later. Right now, it’s time to ROCK AND ROLL!!!!!! Okay, not with this song, but this is a song that’s quintessential 70s…and sold A LOT of products. Here’s today’s brand name.

Chevy couldn’t have had better promotion if they’d tried. 
Yes, I know what this song sounds like today. Don’t give me any misogyny, statutory rape, blah blah. Consider when this song came out, in 1973: free love was still a thing, and a popular T-shirt and bumper sticker said, “Gas, grass, or ass, nobody rides for free.” 
This song was a product of its time, and it honestly sums up the carefree 70s perfectly.
Sammy Johns even had to work a “van” into one of his better-known compositions, “Common Man,” a hit for John Conlee: “I’m just a common man, got a common van.” At least he didn’t say “Chevy” that time around.
Sammy Johns died in 2013. This song endures after nearly 50 years.
