Well, just learned a new word and I don't really have any squirrels around here so I only know what I see in videos. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Do you have squirrels where you are? Are they splooting? I just learned what that meant so if you don't let me know in the comments and I'll splain it to ya.

I took a couple shots of her yesterday with my cell phone but I need to crop them before I use them. I only have the one but I think it's a ground squirrel or even maybe a ground hog, Roscoe has tried to catch it but boy is it fast.

I'll bet they are fun to watch. I have one ground squirrel here but I rarely ever see more than the tip of it's tail as it runs under something to get away from Roscoe.

I'll bet you're right. Do you have a lot of nut trees and oaks where you are?

@rebelann I think we have so many because of all the trees and this is a rural area.

I didn't know what that meant - but I figured it out . It is TOO funny and cute when they do that. We do have squirrels around - everyday they come - and at this time they come for the leftover sunflower seeds (the little birds won't eat them) and water. They have tried to dig into the dirt too - we see empty walnut shells which I know the neighbor gives them.

It's really funny to see pups and kitties splooting, I haven't seen Roscoe do it yet but I imagine he will one day.

@rebelann Dogs tend to lay that way in hot weather with their tongues stuck out.

I have had several dogs as well as cats that would do that and it is always funny to see.

Neither have I, they need trees that produce nuts to survive. I think it means that a squirrel or other creature lays on their stomach to try to cool down in hot weather, at least that is the impression I got.

There are squirrels in the woods, but not in the gardens here around. I have seen them spooting in Florida (I know what this means).

@rebelann We all have many trees in the garden, but our woods are full of walnut trees, hazelnuts and oaks and they love to stay there. As you can see from this photo, my garden is very green.

@rebelann I don't have much distance vision left, and have a lot less trees at my house. So, unless my husband tells me what he sees, I have no idea.

That is a cute little squirrel. It looks like he has been in a fight as one ear is a bit tattered. I'd forgotten the word 'sploot'. There is a red panda splooting. I just think he looks so cute.

Oh yes, that is a cute red panda. I didn't notice it's ear ....... maybe it's a male and was injured trying to win his mate?
