Can't stop drinking

Water that is. Usually I drink very little water (which is bad) but today I can't stop drinking. I ate salted salmon in the morning so maybe that is why. But it wasn't very salty so I find it weird that I am super thirsty. And drinking water doesn't seem to quench my thirst. Perhaps I should try adding a slice of lemon to my water. Maybe that will do the trick. I am always amazed at how people can drink huge amounts of water a day. I've seen some people walk around with a gallon of water, or something close to that size. I'd never be able to drink that in one day.

I once became severely dehydrated, enough so that I wound up in the emergency room. And the thing was, I was not lacking drinking things. Just lacking in drinking water, and so now I make it a point to force as much water down as possible throughout the day. I don't want that experience again. I thought I was going to die.

I can't force myself to drink water and only drink when I feel thirsty. And that is not good.

@porwest And I like water so it's odd that I don't drink it much.

@lovebuglena No. It really isn't. I keep a tumbler on my desk and fill it at the water cooler and sip it throughout the day. Sometimes I can drink two of them and they are about 30 ounces each.

I try to drink more water during the summer than at any other time.. But I hate the taste of water so I add a bit of something so it doesn't taste like water. *sigh* I still know it's water, though.

Some people infuse their water with cucumber, lemon, berries, etc. I don't do that. But maybe that's a good idea.

@lovebuglena We buy the unsweetened concentrates that make water taste like anything other than water. I will drink that. One short squirt gives the water a vague fruity flavor that I don't mind.

@DaddyEvil I think I'd rather put slices of cucumber or lemon or berries and let them sit and infuse the water. This way I know that is all I will have. No unwanted things. Unless the concentrates don't have unwanted things.

In fact I also don't like plain water since there is no taste from it. However, I still have to drink more water as it is the best drink. I have a trick. I use a very big mug in the office. And therefore everytime I'll fill it up and then drink it all. It can make me drink more water.

Water with some lime or lemon is good. Though it may become slightly bitter.

That salt would do it for me - I know I tend to drink a lot after eating a salty meal. I eat a banana after as it's supposed to counteract sodium . . . I don't know if it helps with the thirst part though.

My salmon was not very salty so I find it weird that after eating it I was very thirsty all day.

I don't hate water but I definitely don't drink as much as I should. Forget about the recommended 8 glasses a day. I don't even drink one usually.

@LindaOHio Not sure how one forces oneself to drink more water? I just can't do it, if not thirsty.

@lovebuglena Whenever I get a blood test or am in the hospital, my kidney function is always down. In spite of that, I still don't drink enough.

I usually drink 8 glasses of water everyday. 1 upon waking up. 1 after doing my morning walk. 1 after breakfast. 1 after lunch. 1 after afternoon snack. 1 after my afternoon walk. 1 after dinner and 1 before I go to bed.

That's very disciplined. I don't think I'd be able to do that every day.

I also drink only when I am thirsty. Usually anyway. But that means I do not get enough water.

With the hot weather outside and even though I sit near my AC working on my PC, I constantly have to have something cold to drink around, So during the day I drink at lest several glasses of both iced tea and water,

We have a Brita filter at home. I never put it in the fridge so drink room temperature water. But water from the fridge is more refreshing of course.
