A Delta Airlines flight delayed due to an alligator crossing the taxiway

I have shared stories of alligators making their way into swimming pools or staying at a parking lot of a business.
Now comes another alligator story from South Carolina when an alligator delayed a Delta Airlines flight from Atlanta Georgia that landed in Charleston South Carolina on Saturday night.
The passengers inside of the Delta Airlines flight were delayed in getting off of the airplane until the alligator who was on the taxiway could be removed from the area by wildlife officials.
The question that I am sure we would like to be answered is how an alligator manage to get into the taxiway at Charleston International Airport in the first place since I am not familiar if there are any bodies of water near the airport or not.

@RubyHawk I know that the airport in Kenner Louisiana named Louis Armstrong International Airport does have some lakes in the area.

It is unusual for alligators to enter into airport runways even though a lot of airports are located near bodies of water.

@Nakitakona That is a good question. I wish I knew the answer.

@Deepizzaguy of course, it is. But the question is how it did happen if nobody is bringing it there?

That is true since maybe there might be a body water near the airport like there are many rivers and bodies of water near the airport in Kenner Louisiana where Louis Armstrong International Airport is located.

That is true since the report did not mention how the alligator entered into the airport.

I read where alligators can climb a 6 foot fence. He was just crusin' around, seeing what was happening. I'm glad they were able to remove him and relocate him.

I did not know that alligators can climb fences and enter into any open area like an airport runway.

I've flown into that airport many, many times, but never was delayed by an alligator. My daughter lived there for several years. One of her co-workers woke up one morning and found an alligator in her driveway right in front of the garage door. It wouldn't leave so she could go to work, so she had to call the wildlife people. Those things can get absolutely huge.

Even though I have never seen an alligator up close and personal myself, I will take your word that an alligator is a huge animal.

Well, they are all tiny once! But some of them live to grow massively large.

@MarieCoyle Yiu have a very good point there about all alligators being tiny at birth before they become adults.

Actually, that made me chuckle. Sill alligator did not know he was on a runway. Glad he was removed. If there are bodies of water, they need to be sure that there are fences surrounding them

That is very true since a fence that surrounds an airport should prevent alligators from entering a building like an airport runway.

That is what I am thinking. Fences around airports should keep alligators from entering a runway.

That is true since gators deserve to be alive and well in our world.
