I Was Thinking About Leaving Work Early

Heck. You know, it's Friday and all, and it is a bit dead around here. I was thinking I might just go to my co-worker in the office next door (the snake he is notwithstanding), and just say, "Dude. I'm out. Have a good weekend."
But then I got to thinking. Even though my little hourly base pay is paltry compared to my commissions—the bread and butter—every penny counts and I have a camper to buy soon.
So, I better just keep my kiester planted right where it is and just finish out the day.

I left early. Granted it was only 20 minutes early but I did. I brought my stuff to the pep rally and left from there when it was over. No point in going back up to my room to twiddle my thumbs for 20 minutes for no good reason. I don't punch a clock so it didn't make a difference.

@CarolDM Yesterday was a dry day, but today it is supposed to be wet and chilly. It was hot as hell yesterday though. We've had the air off for about a week, but kicked it back on last night, but will likely have it off again later today.

Well that's one way to look at it, and it is Friday. So nice weekend.

@porwest My husband is trying to decide if he's happy with two. But, then we had a rough week last week.

I would normally say that if ever given the opportunity, definitely leave work early. But in your case, it’s worth staying and earning those few extra dollars since you have a camper to buy.

What do you do on your desk days? Paperwork? Sales calls?

@porwest What prompts you to go out on the road? Is it just a regular thing?

@LindaOHio Yeah. We do about a trip a month, and then there are a few day trips too. My next one is the bigger run, running through Wisconsin, Iowa, Minnesota and Illinois.
Probably toward the end of the month.

Pretty much every day is a desk day so long as we have a warehouse guy. Which for now we do.
I do the usual stuff. Take calls from customers, make sales calls, process orders and credits, track cores for items that require cores, handle some administrative stuff, track orders, offer quotes and follow up on said quotes and any orders coming in from vendors that weren't in stock and so on and so forth.

@porwest I go for it if it's the appropriate term.

I was tempted to leave work early yesterday (Friday). It wasn't particularly busy at the time. Unfortunately, I have set hours and I don't think my bosses would be happy for me to leave half an hour after I start
It's a good thing I didn't leave, though, as it did get busier later!
