Okay, okay. So, all told, I really like this one. So does the wife. I don't like the price, though.
So, I sent a text to Gator and basically said, "So, on this one, how low can you go?"
My offer would be $34.5k.
But I am curious what number he might come up with first. If he comes up with the right number I may just decide to go and take a first-hand look and MAYBE pull the trigger.
It has pretty much everything I want.
My plan is to put down about $10k to $15k, so if I can get it for around $35k, all said it would run me about $45k, and I would have to finance about $35k which would be paid off early.
I CAN store it in my driveway until spring. So, we shall see what happens here. This is a good test to see how bad Gator actually wants to make a sale.

Just lowball him and offer him $30k and then go from there. Put a little pressure on him to come up with an offer you’re willing to except! Let’s see how bad he wants the sale.

@porwest very interesting that what you liked on paper turned out to be not so likeable in reality. Happens a lot with houses and cars too.

Incidentally I did shoot $34.5k at him and after he got done laughing he said $37k plus their expenses, and then turned around and said $37 all in. Turns out we went to go see it since we were in the area after the RV show in St. Louis and we did not like it at all. lol

@moffittjc Yeah, the pictures definitely made it look better and nicer. We were immediately unimpressed upon arrival.

This is the RV you showed us this morning. I believe that's a good starting offer although, I might have actually tried to start at $32,000 just to test Gator.
If you can finance it for the $35,000, I think you've done very well. Good luck!

Well, to be fair, so far I have not offered anything. I left it wide open to see what number he comes up with first. I definitely like $32k better than $34.5 and certainly better than $40k. So, we will see what he comes up with.
My plan would be to pay it off early as I do with most things. I hate debts.

@porwest Oh, I misunderstood. Sorry. Oh, yeah, I paid our car off in two years instead of four. I don't like debt, either.

@DaddyEvil I tend to put down large down payments to keep the payments low and then pay what the payment would be had I not.
And sometimes more.
On the camper I am doing it slightly different—mainly because I have to factor in the cost of storage, additional insurance and other costs I will incur. Better to leave some money on the table for something like this.

Yeah, that table is a litte iffy to me too. We could always put in a small table in the middle, although it would take up some space. I am sure we could determine a workaround. The nice thing is that modifications can be made just like a house.

We would pay cash instead of paying interest. It must work out better for you not to take out your invested funds? Good luck.

@porwest I thought that might be the case.

The cost of money is how I generally consider it. If the cost of the loan is cheaper than the return I expect from the cash invested, I will opt to borrow. Still, even when I do borrow, I pay the loans off fast.
In other words, if the loan is 4% and my return is 8%, it is wiser to keep the cash invested and borrow the money.
I will make more money on the cash than I will pay in interest if I pull the cash out of the higher yield investment. In this scenario I am still up 4% despite the cost of the loan. If I forego the loan and use cash I actually have essentially borrowed against myself at 8%.

He can do it of course he can go lower, you know that.
And he will I predict.
It is a really nice one Jim.
Good luck now.
I hope he comes up with the right price.
It is a very awesome camper.
