I will reread a book by one of my favorite writers.

I went to the "fun room" at La Cabanna as I am about to finish the book I´m reading. There I had the pleasure of finding a book I have in Spanish by one of my favorite writers: John Steinbeck. The book is called Tortilla flat and it is about some people in California where many of his novels take place. I prefer to read it in the native language as so many things are missed with a translation. I have read 3 chapters and I´m completly immersed in it. If you can get it, read it. It must be in many places as John Steinbeck is a Nobel prize author. Now I´m on the risotto. See you.

John Steinbeck was a woman? I’ve read a few books by that author but not the one you mention. I never like reading a book twice. I happy you found it in your native language that’s wonderful!

@marguicha oh somehow I misread it an thought you referred to the author as a her. I must be too tired. That’s my hint to go to bed now that the baby is asleep and my floors are clean.

I have been to Tortilla Flat, that is an old town in Arizona. Interesting that he mixes the names of places existing and set them in California.

He wrote most of his books about California. In fact, one of his main works (East of Eden) IS about a mixture of California and his family.

@LadyDuck Idon´t always think that Literature Nobel prizes are well given. But in this case, I think Steinbeck wholly deserved it.

I have read some things by John Steinbeck but not Tortilla Flats. I find him both depressing and inspiring in different ways.

The most depressing one is Grapes of Wrath. But still that book made possible a change in the laws of the US under President Franklin D. Roosevelt (The New Deal). But this book is not depressing at all. It is very human though.

John Steinbeck wrote 'The Pearl' and I remember doing a book report for it.
