They ate what in the fifties: 7-Up and Milk

Many many moons ago in a galaxy far far away I wrote several articles on the weird and bizarre recipes that I discovered when I bought a bunch of vintage cookbooks at the thrift stores.
Well, over the past few days I have seen several recipes that I felt like the world needed to know about, and hear my input about.
Because what is life without the running commentary of a overworked, underslept mom of two? LOL, exactly.
So I decided I would do a few recipes from each decade and share my opinions on them.
The first one is from the fifties and it is a beverage.
One that reminds me of that time that I thought it would be fun to mix Orange Cream Rum and Sprite in my mouth to make a shot.
Spoiler alert, it wasn't and it congealed instantly in my mouth and made me vomit.
This drink is simple. As you probably guessed when you read the title of this post. You take 7-Up, you take milk and you mix them.
I don't know about you, but that conjures up cement, and rotten milk and just badness all the way around. I wasn't around in the fifties, so maybe y'all were just wild and crazy and weird. But ew.
Just ew.
Elder myLotter's, do you remember this drink? Did you drink it?

I do not think I would want to drink that but I remember watching Laverne and Shirley and Lavern drank Pepsi and milk

Eww. Thats equally as disgusting but something about a lemon lime soda and milk is even worse.

That makes me want to cringe. I wouldn't think that's a good idea.

@thislittlepennyearns Or really strong stomachs. That mixture doesn't even sound appealing.

Have you never had punch at a baby shower? Think sherbert or ice cream mixed with ginger ale. Same thing. I used to love sprite and milk over ice. Refreshing, delicious and no rotten milk badness at all.

Sherbert is different. sherbert is NOT milk based. So no it isn't the same thing.

Haven't heard of this drink. Doesn't appeal to me. I like Schweppes Cream Soda. Quite popular in Hong Kong.

Cream Soda is one thing, putting actual cream in your soda is another.

Never heard of it. We were too poor to waste milk that way.
