I wonder what the rest of the week will be like????

It's Wednesday and the dust hasn't settled yet. Monday was spent getting ready for the yearly inspection of the apartment. One of my social workers stopped by to help me out in getting ready. I only needed to haul some boxes down to the storage and that was it. Tuesday, I went to the doctor's office. It was my Primary Care Physician, and he was doing my yearly check-up. He wasn't happy with the treatment I received at the pain clinic I was going to, so he has taken over that job. He was in total agreement about the clinic ordering me to go to the main office that was 40 miles away to do the urine test. I had to take the bus in 100+ degree heat just to pee in a cup. Then do the trip back after waiting at a bus stop for 45 minutes waiting for the bus to come pick me up...in 100+ degree heat to make the trip 40 miles back to my home. Anyhow, he has taken over and my pain clinic is no longer my clinic. Today I had my apartment inspected. All that preparation and the inspection lasted all of maybe 5 minutes. I passed the inspection and was able to get them to note the two things that need to be fixed, the door and the toilet. The door needs longer screws and the toilet needs a new flusher unit. The maintenance men were more enamored with my cats. I gave them cat treats for their kitties, which were well received. I don't have anything scheduled for Thursday or Friday, but we'll see what happens. The way things go there's no telling what will come up. Doc told me to sit with my leg up as much as possible. I see the orthopedic Doctor on Monday at 10:30 a.m., he's going to check to see how my ankle is doing. OH!!! Friday, I get to help my neighbor fold his laundry. His hands are riddled with arthritis. I love being able to help him with his work. I had my heart skip a couple of beats, with all the comings and goings of the people checking out the apartment I was sure Petey got out. I couldn't find him!!! I sat down to get the weight off my ankle and Petey came out from under my overstuffed rocking chair. He decided that the outside wasn't as wonderful as being inside. Talk about vast relief! He's curled up on his perch by my chair, snoozing. He's got a happy look on his kitty face, after all he has all kinds of people buying him kitty treats, why go outside???? Jonesy just wandered through the apartment checking out the visitors and then went back in the bedroom to settle down and take a "nap". With her being deaf she is much more comfortable inside where she is protected. Her deafness, we think, is a result of the abuse she received at the hands of the people that dumped her where I used to live. When I adopted her, she settled right into inside life, so I am sure that she was cared for before she was so badly abused. She is loving life being an inside cat and being so loved and cared for. She has received nothing but love and gentleness since she has chosen to live with me. I don't have to worry about her going out. I'm hoping that the rest of the week will be quiet and uneventful. I also hope that the rest of your week is all that you want it to be. L & H's

I'm staying off it as much as I can, it hurts like crazy and aches worse when I try to walk on it. I ace wrapped it last night and some of the pain eased off, thankfully. I go to the doctor's on Monday so hopefully he can give me some good news. He won't be happy that I haven't done physical therapy like he ordered, but the way my ankle swelled and as much as it's been hurting, I don't want to try PT yet. I've been working it and doing a little PT on my own, but it's just the case with the way things have been PT isn't high on the "to do" list. I can relate to the moving, it doesn't seem like it's been over a year, but it has. I'm still not settled from the move, and I need to clean my storage unit that is provided with the apartment, I have my best friend's stuff in there too so it's going to be a JOB to straighten up. I may try doing some next week after the doctor visit...provided he says it's okay to do it. Once that's done then I can work on bears and such. Petey will be happy about that, he loves being able to snooze beside me when I work, whether it's on the computer or on the bears. Hope your move went well and you're in a nice place. Now it's a case of getting things put away and remembering where the heck you put them. I'm still going through "Where the heck did I put?" and not quite remembering so I say it's in the storage cupboard. I looked in it today and there is 4 bags of bottles to go to recycling, 2 vacuums (I was shocked at that), boxes of who knows what, and somewhere there is a really nice litter box that I was going to bring in for the cats. Anyhow it's going to be interesting going through the storage... I think there might be some bear making fur down there, I'm not positive but it's a possibility. Just as long as I don't have to think about moving...thank goodness I passed the inspection last Thursday. They went through, made one comment about my needing to rearrange the freezer, and left. They didn't have any complaints about the way the place looked. Hopefully I get a report from them soon so I don't have to worry about it. Anyhow, take time to rest while you're getting settled. If need be I can loan you one of my naggy cats that will nag you to sit and rest. Petey's really good about nagging. But do get some rest while you're getting settled.

@BearArtistLady Not a problem. Yes, physical therapy is important, but your ankle still needs to heal a bit more from the sound of it for PT to do any good.

I see the orthopedic surgeon on Monday, he's going to be a bit annoyed because I haven't seen physical therapy yet. But with the pain in my ankle, I'm not anxious to suffer more pain from working out the ankle. I am going to work at keeping the rest of the week going well. I have plenty of bears sewn together that can be stuffed, and hopefully the temperature won't skyrocket like it did last week. If it keeps cooler and I concentrate on working on the bears, I should have an easy enough rest of the week. Thank you for your kind words. L & H's

Sounds like seeing the doctor is quite a production number for you. Will it be easier now? Sorry to hear that Jonesy was abused. Some people sure can be hard on their animals. We usually have maintenance inspect the place before we have our annual inspection. That way they can fix things and the inspection is better. Our cats run for the hills too when maintenance or people come in here. Hope the rest of your week is uneventful and quiet.

My trips to the doctor's office should be much easier, they have a shuttle service that will take me both directions and he is a much more understanding doctor who is tuned into his patients. Jonesy is responding so well to the love and extra attention. Some people can be so cruel and heartless. My brother was that way, and I hope that when he got caught in a tugboat propellor he learned something about being kind, but I'm not holding my breath. Our maintenance people come through during the inspection so that the people doing the inspections know that things like the furnace filters have been changed. Both of the maintenance men have cats, and I gave them both kitty treats for their cats. My pair are careful about who they welcome into the apartment, I think they worry that someone might take them away and they'll lose their happy home. It was interesting because I had both maintenance men working on my door and keeping their eyes out for the cats in case they might try to escape through the open door. But at least I know if they have to come in while I'm out they will be careful about making sure that the cats don't sneak out. L & H's

This week slowed down a bit for me, as I am mostly done with the "hiring process" for the Coast Guard Training Center Day care. Now (I think) all I have to do is make an appointment to get fingerprinted, and (hopefully) once that's done, I'll be able to work!

Hope the rest of your week is fairly calm. Glad your doctor is handling your pain meds now. And extremely happy that Petey stayed inside.

Having the apartment inspection done must be a huge relief. And finding dearest Petey exactly where he belonged. Sweet. I'm sorry you had such a horrible experience in the heat.

Having to have an inspection of my house would be an irritation for me. I am thankful I don't have to do that.
