My sister called me.

My sister had a procedure in one of her eyes and now she "sees" with it. I remember that once they "cleaned " one of my eyes after my cataract procedure. I don´t remember seeing better. Lately, it seems that I mainly talk about ailments with many people. Besides my visit to the docotr yesterday, she told me that now she was using the old yogourt maker to germinate seeds. That was the good part of the conversation. My brother in law is in the middle of the chemotherapy. So their life is not the happiest in this moment. Do you have conversations sometimes where you don´t really know what to say? This happened to me today.

Yes, once in a while. Usually, if I know anything about what someone else is going through, whether through personal experience or through one of my friends or family going through that experience, I can and will talk about it. But if I don't know anything about it, all I can do is say "I'm sorry that's happening to you. I hope you feel better quickly." I hate it when that's all I can tell a friend but sometimes it does happen. So far, I've never had any procedures on my eyes but I've had chemo three times and it put me into the hospital for three days each time. I refused to allow the oncologist to try again. The surgical team did surgery and removed the cancer from four places on my body... Luckily, they got it all.

@DaddyEvil I became friends with my oncologist. She was a younger woman and we ended the appointments talking about whether she would or would not divirce her husband

@marguicha Yes, it was. I'm not sure if I was as happy about it as the oncologist was when he came to tell me I was cancer free or not. I thought the top of his head was going to fall off because he was smiling so big.

Sometimes just listening is the best thing you can do.

That would be hard. Maybe tell a funny story or memory you have. Make her laugh in remembering. Or at least get her mind off of what is going on.

Hmm I have heard of cataracts being removed and lens put in to see better but yours did not work? I am sorry to hear that.

Me too. We love each other but we are not as close as we once were.

@marguicha It’s sad but we often grow apart as we get older.

I am sorry for your sister. It happens to me when people are living some sad experiences, I do not know what to say.

When people are terminally ill we don't have anything to talk but wish them quick recovery.

Sometimes I'm at a loss for words. It depends on how well I know the person. I see better after my cataract procedures. I hope your BIL does well with his chemotherapy.
