Running low on toilet paper. I wanted to order Quilted Northern Ultra Plush toilet paper yesterday. Was looking at Amazon and Walmart. Prices seemed to be good, though slightly higher than they were previously. Thought of buying but decided to hold off ordering until today.
Went back today and Amazon no longer had the 32-roll toilet paper pack available that I wanted to get. I looked at other big packs but none were available either except the 6-roll ones.
Checked Walmart. They had 12-roll packs but it was pick up only. I don’t have a Walmart near me so that was out.
Decided to get two 6-roll packs at Amazon. (Came out to about $1.16 per roll.) I never get such small packs but twelve rolls of toilet paper is better than none. And while at it I got Bounty paper towels as I don’t have a lot left. Thankfully, what I wanted was still available. I qualified for free shipping. Order came out to $45.43.
Went to the Walgreens website today and found a 9-pack of toilet paper there. It was on sale and there was also a $1 off coupon for one pack. That came out to $1.11 per roll so got one pack. Plus I had $1 in myRewards I could redeem, so that was even better. Chose store pick-up so don’t have to pay for shipping. Wish I had gotten two packs since I had the $1 in myRewards available. Too late for that. But I will have 21 rolls of toilet paper once the Amazon order is delivered. That’s good enough.
I love saving money on things I need.

Glad you got a good deal; I like ordering the Angel Soft from Walmart and always have enough for me. I get 18 rolls for 11.88.

The paper we get is 3-ply. And I love it. At times it rips when I use it though. And I wonder why. 3-ply shouldn't rip when wiping yourself. Wonder if it ever rips when hubby uses it.

I get excited when I save money on things. The other day I was buying a new brand of almond milk coffee creamer, and the cashier told me that if I downloaded their store app there was a digital coupon that we make the product free of charge. I immediately downloaded the app, and also found a coupon for the oat milk I drink, so I got used that coupon too and added milk to my groceries. I think after applying the digital coupons I walked out of there with creamer and milk for about 50 cents. Now that's the kind of shopping I like!

@lovebuglena You could always use it for your "milk" in your cereal! I've done that before when I've run out of milk, I just poured creamer in my cereal instead. lol

Wow! That's a bargain. Good thing you had a smartphone and could download the app. My mom was ordering stuff from Costco via InstaCart. The guy brought her a big thing of half-n-half. She never even ordered half-n-half. Gave it to me. So I got a big thing of it for free lol. I never buy the big one. Hope I will consume it all before it goes bad.

This reminds me. My mom ordered a few things that the guy told her were not available at Costco and asked if she wants a replacement. She didn't say yes or no. Just didn't reply. He got her replacements. She wanted canned salmon but got canned tuna instead. And then the toothbrushes she got were substituted for those she doesn't use or want. I went into her InstaCart app and went into those two items in the order and chose "incorrect item" and then said that never asked for replacement or something like that. They ended up crediting her InstaCart account and the next item she orders something that credit for both items will be applied. Would have been better if she had gotten a refund on her credit card but this is better than getting nothing at all

@lovebuglena Yes I do not understand why they make these stupid demands on people to buy too many.

@RebeccasFarm Seems like it's cheaper then to spend more money on a few than to buy many just to get a buck or two off.

Not as great as some people. But I will take any savings I can find and take advantage of. I am not a fan of sales though where you have to buy many quantities of an item just to get the sale price or use a coupon. For example, sometimes we get a coupon for Haagen Daz ice cream from our supermarket where to get $1.50 or $2 off (or whatever discount it is) you gotta buy five 14 oz. jars. No way! Not worth it in my opinion.

Nowadays it's even more important to try and save money on our purchases. Prices are skyrocketing everywhere. The cost of living in the UK is up 10%!!!

Prices for things have definitely gone up. A carton of large brown eggs is now $3.99 at our Russian store. I think they are cage-free though. And that's the cheapest price for brown eggs there unless there happens to be a sale. At supermarkets it's even more expensive, even for regular brown eggs.

@LindaOHio I’ve seen some eggs sold for almost $10. What the heck?

@lovebuglena I know. It's ridiculous. I really think merchants are taking advantage of the situation.

Yep. And I also got two Tasters Choice instant coffee for $6.99 a jar as opposed to over $10 for one. And there was a coupon for $2 off a 2-pack floss, if you buy two packs, so I got that. All from Walgreens.

@porwest Now the store near me where I shop is actually Duane Reade but Walgreens bought them so same thing. I order stuff at Walgreens online at times and do order pick up there. Sometimes ordering online you get deals like certain % off when you buy $20 worth or whatever amount they choose. I was able to take advantage of that more than once. And then I just pick the stuff up from Duane Reade. This way I save on shipping.
Now I've never taken advantage of that but they have this offer at times (at least here) where if you buy a certain dollar amount worth of stuff you earn a certain dollar amount in myRewards. Obviously it only makes sense to do this offer if you actually need to buy stuff.

@lovebuglena I rarely ever find good deals at Walgreens. I usually consider them a good "in a pinch" place. But does seem like you found some deals.

TPs become scarce during pandemic. It's terrible. I don't know if you've a reserved stock for them before.

Now toilet paper is available. Less of an issue to get it now.

I hope so but as hubby uses a lot of paper every time he poops I am not sure about that. I usually get two packs of 18.

It's always good to save money on staples. I like having a supply of toilet paper on hand. I hate getting low.

Yeah. Better buy before you run out otherwise you may be left without toilet paper or have to settle for a brand you don't like.
