I own several guitars. My Martin D-18 is my loudest guitar, and is best for when I play acoustic bluegrass music with friends. My Collings OM-1 is my "gigging" guitar and is the "fanciest" in my collection, being worth over $3,000.
But the first guitar I'd grab if my house was on fire is my Larrivee LS-05. I bought it for only $1,000 in in 2002 or so, right before my girlfriend was killed by the surprise projectile birth of a baby elephant at the Oakland Zoo.
It rarely leaves my house and is my favorite guitar for finger-style playing. It is worth only about $1800 now, but money does not matter when it comes to favorite guitars.
There is only one YouTube recording of me playing this guitar, and I will attach it at the end of this post. Many of you have already heard this recording, but I am putting this out there in case something should happen to me.
We live in unpredictable times.
I hope you enjoy this tune. It was posted by @Vandana7 and DJ, of MyLot fame.

OK. What is this about your girlfriend? Did you actually lose her in some freak sort of accident? (not a projectile birth)...I always enjoy your pickin'. Thanks for the information about your guitars.

I did enjoy the tune.
How much unimportant commission money did the salesman make on the $1000?
Was the baby elephant OK?

@TheHorse My gf was a "sturdy gal," to quote Tom Hanks on Back Jeopardy. But the elephant did survive.
------------That is good news. We need more elephants.

The most expensive is often not the best.

Not always the most expensive is best. I think the quality counts more. Thank you for the link. Enjoyed it,

@TheHorse when I was a teenager someone gave me a guitar, I forgot what kind but it became a symbol thing of rock and roll music for me, and I never learned it because I played the piano and did not want to take lessons, but that guitar was hung on the wall and stayed there for years.

We call it GAS, or Guitar Acquisition Syndrome. I know some people with pretty bad GAS. I try to keep mine under control. I actually sold my Takamine 12-strng guitar and may sell another of my guitars (not one of the three mentioned here).

I'm just curious to know - what makes a guitar the loudest one?
