Ah, that Mucinex. I’m feeling so much better, thank God. See if I forget to go west next fall! (I was out in Wyoming, Montana, and the Dakotas last year, and my sinuses thought they had did and gone to heaven!) Time to poison your brain with another song that’s terrific, even if it does have the same name as a song by Poison. Here’s today’s tune. #6: Devil Woman - Marty Robbins Well, heck, who hasn’t done a song called “Devil Woman”? Truth be told, I have three tunes with that name on my iPod: the 1976 hit by Sir Cliff Richard (teenage confession time: that song was a blast to roller skate to!); the 1957 rockabilly song by Buddy Knox; and this 1962 gem with the imitation flamingo guitars by the legendary Marty Robbins. You have to have adultery in a country song, and here we have it…but with a twist! The cheating husband repents and goes back to his wife. It has a happy ending (“Mary cried and forgave me, and Mary took me back again”), complete with the titular seductress being told to buzz off.
