Gas prices are down in California yet again.

About three days ago (with a full tank), I drove by my "discount" gas station. The price of regular had dropped from $5.15/gallon to $5.05/gallon. I think the price at that station had peaked at $6.19/gallon a few months before. I have no idea what is leading to the reduction of gas prices here in over-regulated California. I hate to sound like a broken record, but are gas prices dropping where you live? I want to see us break through the $5.00 mark on the downside, but I'm not counting on it. After a few more miles of driving, I may top off my tank at $5.05.

I only buy gas about once a month so you'd have to look at the last time you asked about gas prices to compare my answer then with what prices are now in my city. $3.17 a gallon for regular. I believe that is down but can't be entirely sure. Edit to add: Better than gas prices coming down, the temp came up from 30F at 6 am and snowing, it's 37F at noon and the snow has stopped and what little accumulation we had gotten has melted off.

@TheHorse No, thank goodness! I don't want the cold, either! Pretty said last night that we need to put plastic up on one of her bedroom windows. She can feel a draft coming in around it.

@DaddyEvil Are there other ways to do it? I'm not really a "windows guy."

Maybe Joe Biden is a genius. But I think not. Maybe different forces are at play in Canada.

I am not sure we will see anything below the $5 mark here in the bay area--we are looking at hybrids and electric cars right now--My husband's car is going to hit the skids soon--230,000+ miles on it now--

What car does he have? I am currently driving a Chevy Silverado pick-up that gets about 20/mpg on the highway.

I wish ours were going down. We've had significant increases in both of the last two weeks. Diesel is just going crazy. Sixty some cents per litre in one week. I've never seen the prices this high here before.

@TheHorse Nothing is that simple but I don't think he's helping. Putin isn't helping either. Lots of people here like to blame Trudeau but I don't believe we Canadians exert enough influence on the world stage to make much difference either way.

Are the increases due to Biden being president of the US?

@koopharper In the US, many factors are more significant in affecting gas prices than who is president or PM. I assume it's similar in Canada.

The wealthy tycoons increased the gas prices, to cast a dark shadow over the Democrats in office. Now the election is over, so that manipulation isn't needed at this time. Yes, gas prices are going down here also.

A reasonable analysis, I think. Funny how Chevron and other oil companies do better when the price of crude oil is up. I would be so bored with life had I followed the money (I would make a good investment manager) instead of meaning.

@TheHorse They grow old staring at the Wall Street numbers and lose track of how many billions they have in their bank accounts!

@kobesbuddy I bet the enjoy their pools. But what do they tell their grand-children about how "rich" their life has been? Do they teach them about art? Or music? Or literature? Or helping others?

That's great to hear. I can't believe it ever got up in the $5 range. Geesh! GLad it is coming down. People were so quick to moan about Biden and it's all his fault. Wait until next year when that new Act comes into play. Insulin $35 a month and all of that. These people who were moaning just needed to wait a little bit. Let me see what our gas price is here. It is $5.22 here right now.

@TheHorse ..........Yes, they are. What happened to the $3+ price? It's like the "Just give it to God" thing. If it ain't going their way blame the president.

Dang! That's pretty a high. Many people are naive about how little the president controls gas prices.

I mentioned that gas was as much as a dollar cheaper on vacation than it was when I got home. It’s creeping down (still above $3.90 in most places, though), so I went down I-65 a few miles and got gas for 70c a gallon cheaper. Ended up with two free gallons of gas that way, versus what I would have paid for it in town.

There is hope on the horizon! The Costco near my house has gas for $4.63/gallon! I haven't seen it that low in a long time. I don't know how convenient the Costco on Monument Blvd. in Concord is for you, but they have gas for $4.47/gallon.
