My youngest daughter and her family are in Florida. Usually, as in before Covid and all the craziness, we visit often. I fly there or they come here. She has a demanding job in a big hospital and getting time off has been very difficult for her since Covid started. She had one little guy, who is now 5. She got pregnant with the second, which she says is her last, the same month Covid hit, and I did get down there to meet my new grandson and play with the other one. Usually, I go back and forth and don't worry about the next visit being too long in the future.
So yesterday, she said she really wanted me there for Thanksgiving week. I got my act together and lined up some care for my son here, and I am leaving Saturday. I am so happy to be able to go. Son here says he wants me to, he knows I miss the babies and family. I got out my suitcase and my ticket is purchased. No doubt the time will fly by, and I will feel like it was way too short, but I am going and am so happy about it.
Truly this year I will be extra thankful to get to see my Florida family for Thanksgiving!

@MarieCoyle My daughter works in the medical field. I see them about once a year and we both live in Michigan! She seldom gets time off, her work schedule is awful:(

I have been there since it started, but it's been a year. The last time I flew, I wore double masks, the airports were a nightmare, and my flight was delayed for hours because the pilot got Covid. I was pretty scared. Hopefully, this will be a good trip. I can't go forever without seeing my family, I just can't. Thank you, Kharla.

How wonderful! Shame your Son can't go with you to Florida, too. But maybe transport too hard on him. Happy Holidays! So happy for you and family!

He loves his family, but he doesn't want to go. Yes, it would not work at this time for him to fly, too many medical issues.
I probably should not go, honestly. But I have been doing this for a long, long time, being a caregiver, and I am not in the best of health, either. I am hopefully leaving him in good hands while I am gone.

Yes, we plan on doing the video chat. I am feeling some guilt about going, but I know if I don't get away soon I am going to go to the funny farm.

I always do. I play with the kids and I help cook meals. That's pretty much it. It's a vacation for me!

I do so wish they lived closer. Maybe some day. I used to love to travel. Since Covid it isn't nearly as fun or convenient.
