Those "ladies" did it again

Do you all remember when I was fussing about those two women at my foot doctor's office? How they insisted on my having a mask on, but were going to make me limp out to the car to get one (or a dollar to pay them for one!)? So uncompassionate. Last week my husband dropped a form off at their office for the travel insurance company so we'll hopefully get reimbursed for the cruise we had to miss. Again. We had to go to Walmart, called their office to see if I could pick up the form and they said, "Yes, it's ready to be picked up. But we don't open until 1pm today." It was 10am. They were in the office. Their message on the answering machine said they opened at 9am. They made us make another 20 mile round trip to town using that expensive gas to get that paper they could have just handed to me at the door. I really like and respect my doctor. But sometimes you just have to draw the line. There is absolutely no excuse for rude and unpleasant employees. They think they can get away with it and they do, since it's the only foot specialist in that town. But I tell you what, bud, there are other doctors in other towns. Am I being petty? Or do you think they're being spiteful? What would you do?

I told you to change doctors before or report them to the doctor... Either way, you'll still need a new doctor but maybe you'll save someone else from having problems with them.

DE, you'll appreciate this. My husband went back to town to pick up the form. Got home, looked it over, realized the doctor filled out all of it except for one tiny detail. He forgot to sign it. I'm tempted to take it back...again!...and sit there until he signs it. I'll keep walking in front of their sign in window, whatever I have to do. It won't take two seconds for him to sign it, but who knows.

They should have sent it through the mail so you didn't have to drive back there.

Some people feel BIG when they can wield some sort of authority over others. I won't let them have the victory by making me inconvenience myself by going to another town. As long as l am happy with the doctor l would remain there. As the saying goes : "today for me, tomorrow for you".

Not petty at all. There is no excuse for this behavior. I would start looking for a new doctor.

He's referring me to a foot specialist surgeon (orthopedics I guess) so I want to be sure I won't need to see him again before I make waves.

Honestly, I don't know. I'm limited on where I can go due to insurance. So I tend to have to suck it up. Hell, I've never worn a mask in the doctor's office, and no one tries to say a word to me about it.

Around here, almost all medical offices still require masks.

@just4him Even though this doctor is really good and the only one in the town near us, there are several only 30 minutes from here.

Do have to wonder what is going on there. Sounds like the office manager needs to get a grip on the admin staff

First of all, charging $1 for a mask is highway robbery and just downright rude. All the other doctors' offices and hospitals that I've been to have complimentary masks if you need one. I would find another doctor and let them know WHY I am changing.

When I went in that day just to drop off a form, I didn't have a mask on and they acted like I was going to give them the Black Plague. Dale dropped me off at the door with my cane so I wouldn't have far to walk. I didn't carry my purse with a mask or cell phone, so I didn't have a dollar to buy a mask or my phone to call Dale in the back parking lot. I told them that I would have to limp out to the parking lot and they literally just shrugged their shoulders. Every step hurt and they just watched me head toward the door. There were two ladies sitting there to be seen and one of them pulled out a dollar for me to buy a mask. It was so kind I almost cried. Those two clerks had always been rather rude, but this was just so mean spirited.

@1creekgirl That's downright unforgivable. I would have a talk with the doctor for sure. I might even find one of those websites where you can leave feedback on doctors.

Did you report them to your doctor? I would and then I would go to see another doctor, it does not matter if it's in another town.

Do you feel you can tell your doctor about your experience? I really think he needs to know as it wasn't just the one occurrence.

I would let the doctor know that he is a good doctor but the staff he has is terrible. Tell him you are going to find another doctor because of it so he knows he isn't the reason you are leaving.

You can inform your doctor about them or the hospital/clinic head.
