Can't find things inside my hangbag

I am walking outside and my phone rings. I go into bag to retrieve the phone but cannot find it. It's clearly in there but I don't feel it with my hands. Or even see it when I look in there. I end up missing the call. Then when I get home I go into my bag to get the keys out so I can open the door but I can't find them either. It's even worse when I have to go to the bathroom. Having a bag with no pockets is not a great thing. Sometimes I even think I lost something or forgot it somewhere when that item is actually inside the bag the whole time. It's great when handbags have pockets or many zippered compartments. Much easier to find what you need. And you don't have to panic when you can't find something.

I know what you mean. My wheelchair bag is a total life saver. I have cubby holes to put things, and everything's at reach as long as i scoot forward.

That's very convenient. I have an old Cole Haan bag that has three zippered sections. That is very convenient. But all my other bags either don't have pockets or they are so small that they are practically useless.

@lovebuglena Most bags are like that. I tried using handbags and purses for a while, but found them a pain in my backside trying to move around in a wheelchair.

@kaylachan The only thing that fits into those pockets is a tissue and maybe a credit card. Sometimes keys maybe, if it's not a huge stack of them.

Sometimes I am ready to throw the bag on the floor.

I was at a store once and needed to give the cashier my store card to get discounts. The card is on the keys. I went into the bag to get them but took a while before I was able to finally find them.

You can solve the problem easily when you put a small bag with a zipper for your keys inside your big handbag

@lovebuglena That 'could' not work. It will work! If the small bag and the inside of your handbag are made of cloth, you can fasten the small bag at the side of the bag with a safety pin.

That could work. Or maybe have like a sandwich bag or something like that.

Yes, sometimes I lose things in the cavernous handbag that I carry. Hope you have a great Thanksgiving.

I bought a bag which has lots of inside pockets because I too have this habit of not finding things once I go out with the backpack

@Dreamerby Why are you not using it? Is something wrong with it?

I had bought a Prada bag for my foreign tour that had many sections and I very efficiently placed all the things I wanted in different segments but when I replaced the items after I had taken them out they did not go back there creating confusion (lol) Never more will I buy bags that have sections.

@allknowing Maybe we should start labeling each section/compartment.

If a bag has sections you have to remember what section has what items and then when you take those items out you have to place them in that same section. Otherwise you will have a hard time findings things.

I "helped" my first wife find things we needed by dumping her suitcase sized purse out in the floor one day. I have no idea why she was upset. It was easy to find what we needed that way.

@lovebuglena We were in a store and needed her debit card. When she couldn't find it, I offered to pay but nooooo.... she didn't want to use "my" money. She'd rather stand there, holding up everyone else while she dug and dug in her suitcase.

Maybe she didn't like that you dumped everything on the floor. Why the floor anyway? Why not the couch?

@DaddyEvil Oh wow! She could've had you pay and then paid you back if she didn't want you to pay for it. People were probably frustrated if they were standing there for a while with the line not moving.

I keep mine cleaned out so easy to find things. I have one using right now with too many pockets. I have to go through all of them to find what I'm looking for.

@lovebuglena It sure can be hard. I'm going to change my purse into the smaller one when I get home. There are just too many pockets in mine.

I don't have an avalanche of stuff in my bag or things that shouldn't be there but when many things in the bag it can be hard to find them.

I hear what you're saying about pockets but some bags have too many pockets - or maybe it's just that I'm bad about remembering what's in each one.

My bags have one or maybe two pockets at most, not including the zippered one.

Yes, might be good to buy a bag compartment divider.
