'tis the sneezin'

I've picked up a cold in the last week, which isn't surprising. Thanksgiving week wasn't very restful, so I'm sure my immune system wasn't at its peak. I'm sneezing a lot today, so I'll definitely wear a mask to work tomorrow. Yesterday my chest felt bubbly, but today my sinuses are the problem. Today I've been resting, eating nourishing foods, and chasing Dayquil with mugs of tea. I have some laundry to do so I have clean clothes for the week, but I'm still good as far as prepped foods -- there's another meal or two worth of turkey and some stuffing left, so I'll probably make a "Thanksgiving casserole" tomorrow to use up most of it. Tonight I'm making porcupine meatballs (made with ground beef and rice, not porcupine meat!) so the family has a turkey break, and I'll probably have some more soup.

Porcupine meatballs sound good. We got a small turkey this year and so there were no leftovers. My daughter's father used to just go to bed with a wool blanket and sweat the cold out of his body. Always worked for him. Hope you are better soon.

@spiderdust We use Dayquil during the daytime and Nyquil to help us sleep better. This works wonders, to combat a cold!

@kobesbuddy ........I use TheraFlu even for colds. It knocks me out and has pain reliever in it.

I ate pizza rolls for "lunch" at 5 pm today. No more turkey for me for a week or so. It's all loaded into the freezer. I hope you feel better soon.

I'm sure I will, it's just one of those things. Porcupines are being rolled out in a moment, but I definitely want some soup. I'd really like to make this soup, but I should probably use up the things I have leftover first.

@DaddyEvil I have a silicone tray that I use for freezing 1-cup servings of soup. When they're frozen, I pop them out of the tray, put them in a ziploc and label them. They're just the right size for a lunchbox or a quick lunch at home. I've frozen other things in them too, like sausage gravy or casserole servings.

My sinuses finally decided to stop feeling like John Bonham and Keith Moon were having a drum-off with sledgehammers once it got cold. I feel for you. Sinus pain is awful.

I managed to get some decent rest last night (which is just unheard of and miraculous) and felt a lot better this morning.

@spiderdust - Resting and sleeping seems to be the best way to cure a cold.

I got all my boosters too! Last year, half of our department was out with COVID right after Thanksgiving, and I didn't want to run into that again. I ordered some masks with autumn designs and some with winter designs so I could at least be more festive while protecting others.

I'm sorry to hear you are getting sick, this is flu season already:( Your family will be happy, with porcupine meatballs tonight and a turkey casserole maybe tomorrow or the next day.

@spiderdust My sinuses get irritated, the minute we need to turn our furnace on. For some reason, it circulates unclean air, even though Jay changes the filters regularly.

@kobesbuddy It's the dust that settles inside the furnace burning off when you first turn it on.

I did get a flu shot, so at least I know it isn't that. I also don't have a fever or chills, I just feel like I'm drowning in my sinuses.

I hope the cold is short-lived. I'm glad you have turkey leftovers. I'm sure the casserole will be delicious. It's been a while since I had porcupine meatballs. Enjoy.
