A different day

Today my student was gone. There was a surprise opening in a specialty clinic for him to get some evaluations related to his disability.
So I got to work on some communication aids for him to use.
I also got to sit with and monitor a student during "counselor". Fourth grade. The counselor is beginning a unit on careers and how to prepare for things they dream of doing. Some of these 10 to 11 year olds are pretty unrealistic, wanting to all be professional sports figures, and others are pretty focused about what they want to do.
One young man said he plans to become a Navy Seal and from there go on to become an astronaut. One young lady plans to be a gymnastics coach.
For an hour I got to be that extra set of hands for a high intensity section working multiple levels in the resource room. It seems to be a group with a high level of needs for attention and focus. I worked one on one for an hour getting a young man to finish work he missed when he was out on Monday due to a funeral
For the hour I worked with him we had a partition drawn and he would work five minutes then get a "break" for five minutes. He worked extra fast and hard to earn those breaks. It does not always go that way. Most of his breaks involved time bouncing on a mini trampoline, or laying under it or sitting behind it while he pretended to be a stereo speaker.
It is a different kind of tired today. My mental energy is drained.

I can understand how you could be mentally exhausted after all that. Sounds like that boys breaks are well needed I bet he has a lot of energy.

Did you have any kids who said they wanted to be a YouTuber or "influencer" when they grew up? I was watching a show today that claimed up to 80% of kids now want to be A YouTuber when they grew up... I guess they think it's easy after watching some of the rich young people online now.
Some kids are mentally draining... But most of them are fun...

It's amazing how you cope with these children. I'd be completely frazzled.
