New countdown time!
Have you ever noticed the number of songs that have “the ballad of” in their title? It’s not as bad now as it was “back then,” but you could swing a balladeer without hitting a song titled the ballad of something back in the 60s and 70s.
So….here come the ballad ballads!
Yes, there will be country music.
Yes, there will be rock and roll.
And no, not many of these songs are “ballads” in the musical style sense (a slow song).
As for our teaser, I wish to heck they’d recorded this. I remember when this happened because I listened to Rockline all the time. Enjoy Mike Mills and Peter Buck singing “The Ballad of Cat Ballou.”

I vaguely remember it. I need to watch it again. Dad was into funny westerns like that when I was a kid (that’s how Blazing Saddles became the second R-rated movie I ever saw).

@JudyEv — in Blazing Saddles Mongo knocked the horse down, so it was Cat Ballou.

@FourWalls Now you have me wondering if it was Blazing Saddles where I saw the horse but I'm pretty sure it was Cat Ballou.

That is true there is ballad in a lot of songs like that. Mike Ness Miss lady he bit country and a bit punk rock and roll. Why people love him I suppose. Stay true to you. Your song will be Mike Ness Approved. I like how the beat is kind of what Mike Ness uses.
Why music is neat, you can learn things from people so different than you.

@FourWalls According to him he is just rock and roll but fans say different. You one of the most oldest punk rockers still alive. I find it neat, not sure Mike does.

@crossbones27 — hey, I’m glad he’s made it. You don’t have to cash in at 21 like Sid Vicious did to “prove” you’re a punk.

You realize Mike Ness is 60 now? What happens when our punkers get old????
Sounds like he’s been listening to a lot of Johnny Cash in that song.

Do not know this one, but the interesting idea here, I will be interested to see what you come up with. Meanwhile, I have taken up Christmas songs, the popular ones, not the traditional ones,

That should be fun.
By the way, did you know Latvian singer Haralds Simanis? He passed away the other day. He was 71. I listened to a couple of his songs on You Tube, he had a nice voice.

@FourWalls thanks for the info. I will check it out online. I know quite a few that sing popular Latvian songs and have some of the songs on my favorite list on YouTube. I looked online and yes, I have heard some songs by him. He had an interesting background born into a Latvian-Gypsy family.

I haven’t seen it in eons. It’s not like one that stuck in my mind like glue.

Yes, Nat King Cole had the hit. I just liked the way Mike and Peter sang it out of the blue. Like Coburn said, “That was the last song I was expecting you to do.”

I guess it’s good because I don’t remember it all that well. Always loved the theme song though.
