I’ve landed back in Ireland. Being in France was never meant to last that long. In Paris I concluded that house prices were beyond my reach. But I knew that anyway. Woe is me. Anyway in December we’ll have our Scottish daughter and our English daughter and her family staying with us for a few days each, and when the year finishes I’ll only have one more Christmas to endure before I retire and have to move house. I’m trying to buy a house but it’s a depressing activity. There’s really nothing available that I like - maybe I’m too fussy. And rental isn’t really a thing here, certainly not long term. I shouldn’t really complain, but I will.

So the deal near Portmuck didn't pan out? Our son is looking to buy in the Castlebar/Westport area.

@judyev Yes, Portmuck got snapped up and a little place we put an offer on we think now is too small. I hate making these decisions. My wife is even worse.

@xFiacre What a shame you missed out on the Portmuck place. It's such a huge decision - buying a house. There is no way you want to get it wrong.

The price of houses have gone up a lot since we bought our house, I am glad I convinced to buy this one, we could not afford to buy it now. Paris has always been expensive, why not to check some other areas of France?
