about to start wrapping

It's my day off and the kids are still at school, so I'm about to tackle some of the Christmas gift wrapping. There are a lot of people here, which means lots of presents. Every year, a few of us end up staying up most of the night on Christmas Eve, trying to finish all the wrapping, and I'm hoping to avoid that this year. Related to that, the song "Christmas Wrapping" by The Waitresses has been playing in my head for two days (and it keeps making me think of @FourWalls for some reason).

Why are you rapping? I cannot stand rap music. I will not listen to you song! What's that? Wrapping? Oh, that's different. Never mind.

Now, wait... you mentioned a song a few days ago that you approved as a decent rap song. Something by Gil Scott Heron, I think.

Oh, same here. I have a few heavy things in boxes that won't work so well in a gift bag, but I've definitely done that with a couple today.

@spiderdust How do you fit a married couple into a gift bag?

@TheHorse First, you need a very large and sturdy bag...

Thanks! I only got the wrapping done for the 2 youngest boys before they got home from school, and now I've had to pause because I don't want to wrap anything for anyone in front of them. Hopefully I'll get more wrapped tomorrow after work.

@spiderdust As now we are only my husband and I for the day of Christmas, Christmas morning looks a lot like a normal day of the week.

Yes, that will be our day/evening of putting on new pajamas, decorating cookies, and going to see the neighborhood lights after a dinner of spaghetti and crab bisque. Growing up, my family had a tradition of eating fish, bread, and grape juice for Christmas Eve dinner, but my kids have never been crazy about seafood. I started serving spaghetti. I still have seafood in some form (shrimp cocktail, clam chowder, etc.) for tradition's sake, but at least no one has to feel like they are forced to eat something they don't like on a holiday.

A punk Christmas song? Why that would make you think of me is a mystery. Thanks for the mention. Happy wrapping!

If @teamfreak16 were still around, I'd have tagged him too! I'm hoping I can get more wrapping done tomorrow. I had to run out and get more tape and didn't get as far as I wanted to.

Merry Christmas to you too! I don't think I've purchased Christmas wrapping paper in a few years, and I never pay full price for it. I'm one of those people who gets it during the post-holiday clearance sales.

I can relate to that late night wrapping on Christmas Eve but promised myself I would get it all done ahead of time this year. So far I'm doing good

I didn't get as much done as I had hoped because I had to run out and buy tape! But I at least got everything wrapped for one of the children and most of the gifts wrapped for another. Now I need to figure out when to do everyone else's.
