Camper's Finally Home

Or, should I say, back at Cubesmart where we store it. The bill was only $211. The warranty covered the faucet and the broken gray tank lever. And it's winterized. I tried to be as civilized as possible in my interaction with the staff, but still voiced my concerns. I will still be having a talk with someone on Monday about my overall experience. But I want to talk to the main manager of the store overall who was not there today. Now we won't get to enjoy it again until spring. Both wifey and I are looking very much forward to it. We already have one camping trip planned with her cousin and his wife in May at Double J in Chatham, Illinois just south of Springfield and we are looking forward to that. We plan on taking it out a couple of weeks before that just to dewinterize and make sure everything is ready to go for our actual camp. We MAY do that at home in the driveway, but we shall see. That would let us fill the fresh water tank at home before we hook up anywhere else. IF we decide to fill it. Most sites have fresh water direct hookup so we may not need it. We will see. Meanwhile, onward and upward.

Good to know that you got your camper back. In any case, you should talk to the store manage about your experience.

I most certainly will. I will be writing a lengthy article about my entire experience as well, and maybe I will even forward that to Marcus Lemonis himself. If he cares. lol

@Beestring I am really surprised it's so bad over there. I mean, he made an entire TV show about what NOT to do in business, and yet...his own business SUCKS. lol

@porwest I agree that you should forward your article to Marcus Lemonis. Their customer service was really ridiculous.

Glad to hear you got your camper back finally! One of the things I love about living in Florida is not ever having to worry about winterizing anything.

@porwest There’s plenty of beautiful places here that I’m sure you would love. Both along the beach, and in the interior of the state, which I always refer to as the “old Florida.”

@moffittjc As I have probably mentioned before, I REALLY like the panhandle. We used to always go to the St. Pete's Beach area, and Treasure Island, and Ft. Lauderdale and Miami. But none of those places has anything on the panhandle. Both Cape San Blas and Port St. Joe were AWESOME!

Too bad they had to do you like that and I hope you get some results from your complaint. Yes something to look forward to now and as long as they did the camper right..

@RebeccasFarm At least will still have the ability as consumers to cast votes with our wallets. It is all we have.

It seems they did well with the work. It's the customer service experience and the time it took to do it which is the question. Based on past experiences, my complaints will most likely fall on deaf ears.

Good to know you got your camper back, and it didn't cost an arm and leg. We have several trips planned for next year and, because some of the parks fill up fast, have already made reservations.

@porwest Cost-wise, state parks are usually your best bet. Many have full-hookup sites or electric and water with easy access to dump stations. If you haven't invested in a honeypot, you might want to look into getting one to take along for longer stays at sites without sewer. Having one opens up a lot of state and county parks you might otherwise choose to pass on.

Yeah, I am trying to get some things planned out. This is going to be a learning curve. I hope it doesn't prove too difficult. Luckily both the wife and I have a lot of flexibility in our jobs.

@DWDavis I have heard that somewhere, that the state parks are much cheaper and still have all the amenities. Not exactly sure what a honeypot is though, unless it is that portable sewage container?

Can’t you park your camper in your yard and save your money? Glad they got it fixed up for you.

I can. But it is not practical. Just takes up too much space, and frankly, I find them to be an eyesore when people store them at home.

Me too. That was a nightmare. Never again, and this year I took it local to a place called Edward's. It was not only cheaper. They were faster and much friendlier and easier to deal with. Camping World can suck it.

@LindaOHio If you are ever in the market for a camper...go somewhere else. All I'm saying.

I just keep going back to your original comment about Camping World. Gosh, it is all coming true. Probably because that's just the "experience." lol

I am happy to finally have it back, even if I can't use it and it just sits in the storage unit. But at least it's not stuck on Camping World's lot and I did not have to haul it back in a blizzard.

I'm glad you didn't have a problem picking it up and I'd love to be a fly on the wall when you're talking with the manager.

If it were just me I would do it in a heartbeat. But I think the wife and I would probably kill each other a short time in such a small environment.

A friend of mine bought a huge camper like that years ago. They used it for 2 years and then sold it.

I have no intention of selling it. This last season we got a good 5 camps in, so I am going to call that good. Next year maybe more, and if we get a couple extended ones in even better.
