Lady I know is Mormon but I got shingles from my brother. I never would say anything because not how I roll. Where else would I get them when he admitted he had them and thought he was dying, not that he was here, but not long after I had shingles and I told no one, just suffered through it and drank a bunch of whisky. I am not sure how I got them but how else do you get them? Had to be family. They say can get chicken pox vaccine and I am confused after that. I will always be for vaccines but heard some say chicken pox vaccines leads to shingles later in life. Anyone have any information on this. I know lower immured system and you will get them but the vaccine thing is interesting. Truth only time I get sick is when I lay off the alcohol. I try to be smart about it to not get me in trouble but anytime I am more than three weeks with out booze in system, flu, or shingles. Someone explain that to me. Sometimes I lay off alcohol because that is what lowers my immune system. To a certain extent, when shingles happen, where is my whisky bottle?

I'm not sure if you are aware, but shingles are not contagious from person to person. Shingles is caused when you've had chickenpox and the virus re-activates itself and then you have them. You can infect someone and give them chickenpox from shingles, but not shingles itself. I am sorry, I know they can be horribly painful.

Thank you, what I was trying to figure out. Not many coincidences in this world but I can see that, especially after he talked about it. Plus we have many things the way we man hug our dogs. Makes you wonder but viruses are crazy and I can never get a straight answer even from like doctors.

I had to get the Shingrix vaccine this year. I have had shingles three times in my life. If you've had chicken pox, then you can get shingles. Shingles are cause by too much anxiety and an immune system that is compromised in some way. The same virus that causes chicken pox causes shingles. The virus lives on in us and can manifest at any time later in your life. Shingles can't be passed from one person to another but a person with shingles can pass the virus that causes chicken pox to someone else if the second person has never had chicken pox. "If you have shingles, direct contact with the fluid from your rash blisters can spread VZV to people who have never had chickenpox or never received the chickenpox vaccine. If they get infected, they will develop chickenpox, not shingles." Excerpt taken from:
https://www.cdc.gov/shingles/about/transmission.html#:~:text=If%20you%20have%20shingles%2C%20direct,will%20develop%20chickenpox%2C%20not%20shingles.

@DaddyEvil Yeah, I heard that too stress and thats what I got just lowered immune system. Why they say older people get them so much. I heard they have vaccines now for that too but to expensive for me. I am also confused still because still make it sound weird.

@crossbones27 I hope so, too. My doctor kept telling me to quit Walmart and I'd stop having shingles.

I am fine that was years ago, like Trump, if that did not kill me a fly bite surely will. Come on miss lady that was funny. Lady I knew a long time ago says she has them now. I was like it so sucks and you feel like you dying. Mine was in my chest so squeezing the crap out of heart. Not even shingles can stop a heart this big.

You get Shingles if you had chicken pox when you were a kid. The virus remains in your body and the stress could trigger it. I got Shingles several years ago, I did not notice immediately and I waited before to treat it and I was in pain for many weeks. Go to see a doctor, they will give you an antiviral.

No neither of us had chicken pox and we were actually vaccinated thanks to mean step dad. But point vaccinations not fool proof but still made me go how the hell you get shingles. Shows you turn it down a notch for sure.
