I read a book

When we go back after Christmas break we have a school tradition. It is actually part of a national movement. The tradition is called "One book, one school" or maybe "one school, one book" The idea is that each class in the school will read the same book. There will projects, discussions and other fun, related activities. Then the school librarian will show a movie of the book. The older kids often compare and contrast the two. They vote for which they like best, the book or movie. Usually there is a snack as well. My lead teacher sent the book home with me to read as she is working on graduate school and has four kids at home. So I read it. If you are interested the book this year is The One and Only Ivan, by Katherine Applegate. It is a Newbery Medal winner. Often the books have a little sadness, and make you think a bit.

I’m an addicted reader. I checked out seven books yesterday. I recommend reading to everyone.

This sounds like a fun challenge, we did that in college for one teacher. The book was written by Nathaniel Hawthorne, The Scarlet Letter. I really enjoyed this book, we went over it in class and eventually, we had a written test, also.

Very cold with a little snow. Ice on the roads is more of a problem.

I enjoyed it. My lead teacher had passed it to me so it would at least look "used" by the time we started. My husband is even reading it. The formatting of how it is type set makes it very easy even for kids who have a reading problem.

I think so. It also builds a feeling of community in the school.

That sounds a really interesting project. I'm sure it would spark the kids' interest too.

It does. Sometimes they do art projects or write letters to the characters and generally just immerse themselves in the book.
