Getting an ultra-sound for my "Multiple Asses" haha!

I went to the doctor's today to discuss issues I've been having with my neck and some other weird things that have been going on that just might be connected to some nerve or something. Anyway, I'll be getting an MRI scan to check my spine. While I was there, I asked her about these lumps I have along my rib cage. I've had them for many years and have asked a few doctors about them here and there but I've never actually had tests done to check them out. I've always been told they are just lipomas / fatty tissue. And with all due respect to these doctors, I'm just someone who prefers to have tests done so it can put my mind at ease. The doctor was kind enough to print out a referral for me to also get an ultra-sound along my rib cage. I'm happy to be going to get this done but oh my goodness it's going to hurt! Whenever I've had an ultra-sound and it goes along my rib cage or other areas where these lumps are, it's excruciating! When my doctor printed out the referral for the ultra-sound she laughed and said she had to re-print it as she didn't press down on the "M" hard enough to which it came out that I needed an ultra-sound to be checking out my "Multiple Asses." It was meant to be "Multiple Masses." That was a nice laugh to have with the doctor.

That is funny, you have a good doctor if she shares little things like that. It lightens our mood when we are concerned and worried. I hope that the ultrasound isn't too awful, I know that they really like to see how far into us they can force that wand, and then they wiggle it.

@Juliaacv It was a nice moment to share with her. I am glad she changed it lol Not sure how it would have looked to the person giving me the ultra-sound. Oh you are so right! The way you said that made me cringe because that's what just makes it even more painful. It's one thing to have it directly on those lumps but to hold it in place and wriggle? Oh that turns my stomach and I know's it's going to happen. And thank you kindly.

Now I understand the title. Ultra sounds are not at all painful, do not worry.

@VivaLaDani13 Oh NO! I am so sorry I did not know those lumps were painful. I had ultrasound when I damaged my shoulder and I had no pain at all. I think they should remove those lumps if they are painful.

@LadyDuck That's ok Anna. When I was little I had many ultra-sounds to check my kidneys. I don't know the right medical term. I will have to ask dad but I think it was one kidney smaller than the other when I was born and I had many issues "down there" as a child. It's very vague now but that never once bothered me when getting ultra-sounds. It was actually fun. Like a weird massage lol But as an adult and those lumps, it's just so painful. If someone offered to put me to sleep while they did it, I would accept the offer. Is your shoulder 100% nowadays?

@LadyDuck I thought it would be catchy. Unfortunately ultra-sounds are very very painful for me. They never used to be. But ever since having these lumps on my rib cage, the pain is very awful to the point I feel like I could scream out. Before my gallstones were found, I had quite a lot of ultra-sounds and whenever it rolled along my rib cage and along the sides of my body, it was very painful. I know this is going to hurt. It shouldn't, but it will. Whenever I lean in to grab clothes out of our washing machine, because I'm short, the lumps gets pressed onto the machine and it's so painful I have to get my dad to help or grab tongs to reach the clothes.

Why are you having multiple masses? But they will just be scraped. My friend has multiple masses in her fallopian tube she's okay now.

@VivaLaDani13 Could they be calcium deposits? I have those.

@marlina I'm not sure to be honest. I've never heard of calcium deposits before. Do they ever feel tender or really painful or not really?

@cacay1 I'm terribly sorry but I don't understand what you mean. I have lumps underneath my skin in various places around my body but they are mostly on my rib cage. I didn't put them there.

I commented to my male doctor that he used all his fingers when typing and we had a little chat about that. It's nice when you are comfortable with your doctor.

That was funny alright. I had a doctor who never appeared anxious or worried . In fact when writing a prescription or doing an examination he would be humming or whistling a tune. I hope your tests are okay, l have three scheduled for the end of January.

That's some....ehm...non-veg title for something a bit serious . It is good to have a humane doctor by your side as many of them tend to be too professional and snobbish.

@snowy22315 oh I see. I just want proper answers. Because some ARE growing and they are multiplying around my body but more on my rib cage. She stated it could just be lipomas but suggested for me to just get them checked anyway. She pushed for it. Not me. No harm in getting them checked. But could be some harm if it's something that needs addressing and I didn't do anything about it.

I don't know what to say on all this other than there was a time when I had to have a IV for a certain test they needed & they got the wrong IV needle & didn't realize it till they did it so they had to redo it & as hard as it is to GET a good vain, going through it again was a REAL PAIN.

@2ndchances24 I'm almost certain my dad has the same problem with some of his veins on one arm. But yeah I can imagine the battle of trying to get an IV in.

@VivaLaDani13 I wouldn't say small veins but weak 1's where they collapse or hard to get any blood from, they had a heck of a time while I was in the hosp with the IV's every few days they would have to replace 2-3 I vs they had in me.
