Our rabbits, Coco and Kiki, are one year old today. I have been waiting to take a good photo of two of them being together.
They are actually my daughter's pets. She has been taking good care of them. She made some snacks for them as birthday gift, and even made birthday cards for them.
There are quite a lot of work to do while raising rabbits, and my daughter does all the work on her own. I am glad she doesn't mind doing all the work while playing with them every day. She also feeds two cats staying in the yard and any cats that come to our yard. She really likes taking care of pets.
Do you have any pets?

Thanks! Yes, my daughter likes pets. That's how I motivate her to read and write too - about pets. We also learn more about rabbits after having Coco and Kiki. It's a good way to get kids to learn.
I have not raised birds before. Do you keep the parakeet in the cage? Will parakeet come back to the cage if they fly out?

@much2say Yes, I don't think we want to take that risk too. Our rabbits are kept indoor too. We let them out from their cage, but we have to make sure we close all the doors too. We are afraid the rabbits might not come back after they go outside, and they might be frightened by other animals and cars!

@kaka135 She has a good interest in it . . . she will learn a lot!
Our parakeet is in a cage, in the house. We do let her out but all the house doors must absolutely be closed. She will go back to the cage when we cue her to . . . but we do not let her go outside at all - she would never return. One of our first ones DID fly out of the house by accident . . . we do not want to go through that sadness ever again.

@cherigucchi It's nice to have the two dogs accompanying each other, and hopefully they will be happy to welcome the newcomer.

Your daughter is very responsible... That's always nice when a child takes care of her duties without needing a parent to stand over them and demand they do what they should do.
I have fishies.
(Sometimes I tell people that my daughter is my pet, too.

I guess my three kids are my pets too, that's why I can't afford to take care of other pets.
She promised to take fully care of the pets before we brought the rabbits home, and it's good that she really does all her work. She always asks for a dog, but we think taking care of rabbits is easier for her now.
My husband has fishes, and my daughter helps to take care of them too. I am too lazy to help out... 3 pets are enough for me.

Sometimes people told me I was mean to call Pretty a "pet" but I pointed out I have to do more for her than I would a pet dog or cat, so I didn't see the difference.
Pretty always promised to take care of a pet if we got her one. When she stopped taking care of the pet, I gave them away. I'm not caring for pets I didn't want. Then it turned out I'm allergic to pets with fur so that ended her getting more pets.
I love watching my fishies in their tank but also like knowing that beyond feeding them twice a day and changing their water once in a while, that's all the care they really need or want.
