Hey everyone, how are you all doing? I have almost been on this journey a week now. No, I haven't been perfect. No, I have not stayed "low carb" or "keto" the whole time. I have done what I can. I want this to be a lifestyle. I want to get to the holidays and only take that specific day off - not weeks or months like I have in the past. Anyways - my weigh in - I stayed about the same. Blood sugars - I will share the full day Fasting - 264 Then throughout the day - 287, 241, 228, 158 172 before my work out, 226 after 185 after my final meal So what did I eat? Meal 1 - low carb pizzas - I used 2 street sized low carb tortillas, pizza sauce, cheese and pepperoni Meal 2 - tuna with mayo and sugar free ketchup Meal 3 - salmon with cheese and ranch "dessert" following meal 3 - peanut butter and sugar free chocolate chips Earlier in the day I had a coffee with a little chocolate milk (not sugar free so added 4 or 5 carbs) Macros for the day -- Calories - 1,441 Protein - 94 Fat - 107 Net carbs -17 (total 35) I also got a 45 minute workout in and burned 323 (approx.) calories Steps - 6.451 So, I think this day went a lot better with macros. I want to keep my total carbs under 50 and net under 20. My protein was 94 which is a lot better than the 50 to 60 I have been getting. Will this day show up on the scale tomorrow? We shall see. What do you think?

You exercised and you tried hard, I hope the scale will show good results, but often it takes more than one week to see the scale go down.

@LadyDuck Exactly. And I figured I had a ton of that. But maybe my 40 pound gain is all fat.

It seems you are trying very hard, sometimes results are slow to show themselves. The one thing you listed, tuna with ketchup, is a combination I have never heard of anyone eating. Not sure why, it's just not something I ever knew went together. But hey, I do know some people put ketchup on a lot of things I would never try. One of my grandsons puts it on sausage and dunks bacon in it. He wanted me to try it but I just couldn't do it.

Some days I try harder than others.... I am just struggling because I usually see at least a 5 pound loss in the first week. So far, only like 2 pounds. I have always added ketchup to things that people think is weird. Even ramen LOL. I just like it in tuna though for some reason. I would never put it on salmon though, but I also like salmon better than tuna. I wouldn't dip bacon in ketchup, but I would eat sausage with it lol

@MarieCoyle That sound gross, but I don't like pickles to begin with. Dipping chips in it? If a chip accidently got in the ketchup I would eat it, but not intentionally dip them in it. Two pounds is not a lot though when I have over 100 pounds to lose.

@MommyOfEli2013 The grandson I speak of puts ketchup on so many things. I even caught him dunking dill pickle spears in ketchup, and also using it as a chip dip. He's obsessed! Hey, 2 pounds is a lot. Don't beat yourself up, be proud that you are trying so hard.

I thought you did pretty well; so I was surprised that your readings were as high as they were.

@LindaOHio And then if I have some carbs I can take the insulin, but I will still do the low carb...and just a cheat meal/day occasionally. Least, I hope I would....

They have been high every day. So I wonder how high they were when I was eating carbs. I had something with like 20 carbs and it shot up to the 260s. I think I need insulin with every meal... like based on how many carbs I eat.

@CarolDM I don't know what alternative I have at the moment...but seeing my numbers not improve makes me just want to eat the foods I actually enjoy
