First Lower Number....

I am talking about my blood sugar here.
The first 2 weeks of January I was doing low carb (as much as possible anyway) and my sugars were staying mostly in the 200s, maybe 180's would be the lowest number I would see.
Well, after my first meal today I saw a 142! That is still not a great number but it is a big improvement. My fasting number was 214 I think (but that's after a weekend of carbs).
I guess I did need the insulin to help bring the numbers down. I was on it last year till the end of August then the doctor told me to go off of it. It was my mistake though because I went back to carbs November and December.
Now I have been on the insulin almost a week, and it is starting to help when I don't have carbs.

Maybe you will have to stay on the insulin all of the time.

Probably, especially since I can't do a low carb/carnivore diet 100% of the time

@celticeagle Yeah, you are very lucky. I can eat what I like, but then I would have high blood sugars and problems I don't really want to deal with

@MommyOfEli2013 My dad was that way. He took it twice a day, but now you can take it as needed, too. I think. I know type 1 diabetics need to.

@kaylachan Yes, type 1 need to take insulin to live. However, if they eat a low carb diet they can need a lot less. Wonder what kind if he was taking twice a day. This one I just take once a day

I figured I just needed some insulin. Now if I am going to eat a carby meal I probably need insulin at meal time too.

Good to know that your sugars are getting lower than the previous numbers of 200s.

I'm sorry it took the insulin to bring your numbers down; but a 142 sounds encouraging.

@LindaOHio Yes, so may be able to stop at 20 units of insulin. Was told to keep raising it by 2 till my fasting number was under 140. Well, I have done that.

I hope you can keep your blood sugar down for longer and you won't have to take insulin anymore.
