2023 Health Journey - Day 15

Hello everyone, how are you all doing? I am back to share how I did on my health journey today. Weigh in - 215.6 Starting (January 2nd) - 213.4 So yes, I did go up 2.2 pounds since I started. Blood sugars today? Today was the best blood sugar day so far this year. Fasting - 215 Meal 1 - 143 Meal 2 - 114 Meal 3 - 138 Not sure why it went up, although it seems any carbs at all spike me anymore. What did I eat? Meal 1 - 1 sausage patty, 1 egg (deviled) and a cheese stick Meal 2 - 2.5 oz smoked sausage, sugar free ketchup and shredded cheese Meal 3 - Cordon Bleu casserole - about 8 carbs a serving - Not sure the exact protein and such on this since I couldn't measure how much chicken I put into the recipe. Waiting to get my new food scale. So, my macros is just approximated... Macros - Calories - 1,285 Protein - 96 Fat - 93 Carbs - 15 Maybe I had too much protein in my 3rd meal so it raised my sugar some. At least it is not in the 200s...so I guess that is a plus. What do you think? I will have more of the casserole tomorrow. For those interested what is in the casserole - there is chicken, diced ham, swiss cheese, and then a sauce made from cream cheese and heavy cream. It's one of my favorite low carb foods I think, because I don't feel nauseated by the smell or taste. We'll see if the scale drops with the higher protein day. What do you think?

What about salt? Have you checked the sodium intake in your diet?

You need more salt on keto because you don't hold onto it like you do with a carb diet, so no I don't worry about salt. I do try to get more potassium though.

I think less salt and lean meats are the way to go. Are you exercising a bit more now?

I don't watch salt....or really fats. I just try to keep the carbs low mostly right now. I haven't worked out, but I am going to try to start. I wanted to wait till my sugars were not so high

High protein diet helps me with my sugar levels control. Good that your sugar levels are improving. I am sure that it will get better in coming days.
