It is only after I discovered that I had ARMD (Age Related Macular Degeneration) in one of my eyes that I came to know of this supplement Lutein that is good for the eyes I am now taking it regularly and must say although the eye has the issue it has not deteriorated and in fact I do not even wear glasses now for reading and long distance. There are foods that contain Lutein such as greens, carrots and beetroots. I eat a piece of boiled beetroot every day What do you do to take care of your eyes?

My mother in law has macular degeneration . . . I don't know if she has taken anything in particular for it. I have heard that egg yolks were good for slowing that down.

@allknowing If the supplement works well, then for sure it would be good to take them. I wonder if that helps with eye health in general?

But a supplement when one has the issue takes care of it faster than food would - just my opinion

You can still do a test Close one eye and then the other and if you find no issue then all is well. That is how I found out rather accidentally. I closed one eye and the open eye saw the window rods shaky. But when both eyes were open all was well.

@LadyDuck You must have already done a thorough search on the Net for possible cure but as you say it is not that easily curable. I found this link that might help you

@allknowing I'm diabetic and it’s to help keep blood sugar in check. It has other health benefits too. I have Nystagmus and I’m legally blind. I’ve had it my whole life.

I’m happy your macular degeneration isn’t as bad as it could be. I get my lutein from eggs and get regular eye exams.

That's good to know. Vince takes MacuVision for his eyes but I don't know what's in it.

Any coloured vegetable or fruit are good for the eyes. I take homemade fruit juice which contains beetroot and carrots and green vegetables almost every day.

Speaking of Lutein, I used to take Lutein supplements. Its been a while so maybe I'll start taking it again soon. What I'm taking everyday is multivitamins and mineral supplement.

Some eye issues can be corrected such as cataract but ARMD is there to stay. Lutein can control it but not cure it
