This is a photo of my latest hike on Friday. We went to the South End where there is a lodge, gift shop, campgrounds and other day use areas. My grandson and I walked about 2 miles round trip since the ground was very icy and wet. I took this photo about a quarter mile in. The area is a rain forest and there is fern, moss and gorgeous redwood trees mixed in the pine. I'm hoping to hike weekly since it's only 26 miles from me. My knee surgery is April 19th so hoping to build up more doing this. It's so peaceful and calming. Gas isn't an issue when it comes to my health. I have to drive about 35 minutes or so to the YMCA so rather go 40 minutes (windy small roads), to hike. Taking a lunch, less spending on other things will afford me to do this. Have you exercised this week with something you like doing?

1st let me say it's a beautiful view. oh yes indoors only since the weather is bad in Mauritius. Just normal 10k steps. Have a good day. Happy hiking

It's pretty cold and icy here and going to get worse. I'm debating whether to go tomorrow before the huge freeze comes.

@noni1959 My husband has a hospital visit today, we will spend large part of the afternoon at the hospital. We stay home this morning, he must rest before the visit.

Thank you. I love to photograph and would like to get a fancy camera like my son's but sometimes my iPhone amazes me. Do you walk on nature trails?

That hike is so worth it for that view. I used to jog 7 miles one way. Now I don't do much at all.

So beautiful and tranquil!! Hiking will help to build up your muscles before your surgery - you'll probably recover a lot faster. So good for physical health and your soul! We took a walk with my mother in law half way around a lake near her senior home . . . honestly we would have walked more, but my MIL could only take so much .

@noni1959 I hope you enjoy many more hikes before your surgery! My MIL has some kind of hip pain plus she's slowed down a lot . . . when she says maybe we should go back, we know she's done.

It will help for sure. I still need to lose some weight so the more I get out and enjoy my walks, the better I'll do. Your lake walk sounds like it was lovely. I get your MIL. Sometimes, it's a push to keep me going.

Why do you have to have knee surgery?

Both my knees are bone-on-bone with a lot of bone spurs. The pain is horrible, range of motion is minimal, and my quality of life is getting worse with mobility. After each hike or workout at the YMCA, I have to elevate for a while.

@noni1959 Now I understand. I'm really sorry. Is there a permanent solution to this problem?

@Nevena83 The only solution is the total knee replacements. I have severe psoriatic arthritis and osteoarthritis. It's just a matter of trying for quality of life since there are no cures.

I haven't hike since the pandemic. I hope I get the chance to go hike next month or after since now is rainy season.

I hope you get to as well. I get bored walking unless it's somewhere like mountain trails.

I love going hiking! I can’t do it very easily now with the baby though. The weight of her hurts my toes. I start limping quickly. Where you hiked looks absolutely incredible! Amazing photo.

I hope you can hike sometime in the future. A trail stroller would be awesome if you could get one. There are some places people use them.

I'm on my feet constantly at work, and end up logging 8-10 miles a day on an average day. And on my days at Disney World, I can log between 13-15 miles a day of walking! Luckily, like you, I love to hike and so my legs muscles are pretty strong. You took a very beautiful photo of the waterfall. Very serene and peaceful.

What a magnificent view. I'm sure it's worth every penny of the gas. And thanks for sharing such a lovely photo.

It is worth it. I think it cost me about $10 us right now and that isn't too bad for my truck.
