Unfit and Mutilated Banknotes

We must treat the currency of our nation with care in order to be good citizens. It demonstrates how important money is to us and how being responsible with it helps us be good citizens. As of right now, I've discovered that unfit and mutilated banknotes are unacceptable. These new financial terminology have been added to my vocabulary. Have you recently learned any new things?

Our bank notes have some sort of polymer finish and are quite tough. However, I did 'shrink' one a little when I tried to iron it after it went through the wash.

Can you still use it when it was shrunk? I also do the same thing, but the money did not appear to be one though. I noticed it faded a bit.

@Shavkat I think we took it to a bank and were able to replace it. We might have had to sign a form saying what we'd done.

I guess if the notes are as worst as that in the picture it should not be accepted anymore as a legal tender anymore. I admit I have a few but not as tattered as the one you posted. They are slightly folded and still clean so I guess they are still fit to be used.

@Shavkat I just don’t like the new 1k notes where you cannot just fold it anymore.

I think it needs to show more photos that are really unacceptable. I also think that they are still being used. However, some sellers do not want to accept those that look faded.

We must bring banknotes in bad shape to a bank, but I have never seen banknotes in bad shape. Our banknotes are really tough.

I also noticed that banknotes like in your country are tougher than ours.

@Shavkat I am not going to try to break one, but I think it's not easy, they are very tough.

I haven't learned anything new about US banknotes lately. As long as most of the bill is present, they can be exchanged at any bank for a new bill. Wrinkles, stains and folds don't matter, the bill can still be used anywhere.

I have not tried to change banknotes in these conditions in a bank. I just experienced not being accepted by some sellers here.

@Shavkat Oh, I see... I've taken badly torn money to the bank and gotten them exchanged. Most of the time I don't bother doing that. Businesses know they can exchange them easier than I can.
