When weird fashions become trendy

We all know the torn jeans that are trendy inasmuch as jeans are bought and then the user tears them before wearing them. What I believe is that the celebrity had a torn jean and wore it nevertheless and that became a fashion I was painting my nails this morning and noticed it has spread around the nails. No doubt I will use a polish remover and get rid of it. I wonder if a celebrity did not bother to use a polish remover but went about leaving that smudge around whether it will become a fashion I am no celebrity and if I did that I will have many eye balls looking at me wondering................. I have torn jeans but I've cut the bottoms off and now wear them as jeans.

@allknowing I was supposed to say 'wear them as shorts!' Not in the village though; just at our home-sits when no-one is likely to see me.

Young people today like trends that have not been seen in their lifetimes. I would avoid wearing torn jeans in public since I do not like being looked at like I am some sort of oddball.

My husband had thorn jeans that he used to work outside. I repaired the jeans. I immediately fix smudged nail polish, it's not hard to fix.

Your husband is old fashioned. If a celebrity had smudged nail polish that too would become trendy I have no chance (lol)

@LadyDuck I only hope messy hair and smudged nail polish does not become a fashion trend

@allknowing I remember when my niece worked as a model for Louis Vuitton, they sent back home a girl because she had smudged nail polish and that was not acceptable in their store. I fully agree, messy hair and smudged nail polish is not a nice image.

I don't however like torn jeans and my nail polish rarely smears on the sides.

@allknowing Yes, that's true but you have to wait for the nail polish to dry on your nails or else the polish on the nails may get wiped up.

I think you are right. It is not what we common fold wear that sets the trends, but it is from those who are in the press already.

It doesn't make a sense that the torn jeans are even much more expensive than the normal ones. Oh... I shall make the holes by myself

Try your nail polish mishap and see if it becomes a trend. And if it does, tell me. I often goof now when I paint my nails.

This has always been the way. Fashionable English ladies in the 1860s adopted the 'Alexandra limp' to imitate Queen Alexandra!

This is too much I say. Even bald heads could have the same reason - some celebrity having gone bald (lol)

I still don't understand the torn jeans. I do have one torn pair but I looked at the jeans and they were a pretty green and in my size. I didn't see they had the knee torn out until I put them on later.

When I was in college, I loved torn jeans and had a pair of them. Well, my family won't buy it and so I made it from one of my old jeans. At that time, it was just a little patch being torn. Recently, I have seen pictures where there is hardly any jeans left, most of it is torn
