Mylotting time. My second cousin will come.

I was going to start mylotting earlier but one of my second cousins called. Diana is 4 years younger than I and I met her for the first time when she was around 6 or 7. She was a plump child who did not speak Spanish. Her mom had married an American man and later on she got a divorce and came back to Chile with her daughter. The only word she said was "boring". I didn´t know what it meant but I sure was bored to have to play with her. That same year I was invited with my sister for her birthday. I don´t think that when I went to Disneyworld I was more awed than when I went to her house. The house was in a very good neighborhood, quite different from our middle class one. And she had a big room with shelves filled with dolls with real hair. The sandwiches and cake were bought ones, nothing to do with the special tea time with a cake made by my mother for our birthdays. And on top of all that there was a real magician doing card tricks in the beautiful garden. Diana had learned Spanish but she hadn´t grown up. She was still a plump babyish girl and I had nothing to talk to her. And time went by. I grew up and got married and she also grew up. She got married and adopted 2 children, something unknown to us then. I might have been around 30 when I first started to talk with her and we could not stop. We had a lot of things in common. And from then on, every time that there was a family party we went to a corner and had a get together by ourselves. Now that I think about it, I don´t know why I did not invite her when we were married or why we only talked on those occations later on, when she was divorced and I was a widow. Now I tried to call her and could only get her BFs phone (a BF who is also one of my second cousins and who does not live with her). Later on she called me. We talked for a long while. She was a copycat: she has my same kind of cancer. I told her about a recipe for cookies that could help her with some digestive problems due to chemo. She will come for lunch on February 2nd. I´m very happy. Her BF will bring her but he won´t stay for lunch. I will invite him for the dessert and a cup of coffee when he comes to get her. It will be a girl´s lunch. Do you have such invites?

We will. And we are both the kind of people that find our glass half full instead of half empty.

@DaddyEvil Exactly. I did NOT tell her that I was sorry for her lymphoma. I did tell her that she had copied MY illness and then proceeded to tell her about the cookie recipe.

That is a long history. In some ways, it is no less than some of the stories that we learn of relationships that develop with an initial indifference. It's rare for such invites for me but yes, I haven't met many of my cousins since last many years. So if I visit them, or they come to me, it would be quite interesting.

When we are are small 4 years of difference in ages mean a lot. But as we grew up, we discovered that we were interested in the same things.

Three years back, we cut the family tie in my father side. No invitation will happen from them. It is only mom's sister's and brother's family can do this at present.

Sometimes a part of the family cuts the tie. I do not see Diana as a cousin but as a friend.

@marguicha When there are parties with more people it's hard to have a private time. You will have so much to discuss together.

I hope you have a wonderful time. We don't really have anyone to socialize with.
