Why would someone want to reduce their bone density?

I was taking a survey this morning, and they were asking about vitamins and supplements and asking people about taking a supplement to reduce their bone density. As far as I know people at least in my age group are always trying to increase their bone density or at least not lose it. I don't understand why someone would want to decrease it, do you?

I think there are conditions that require it. Some posted above. It does seem strange though. I'll grant you that below I mean

I can't imagine anyone wanting to decrease their bone density. It could lead to broken bones. No one needs that. Those surveys only want to get your information without paying you the promised amount. Imo, they are hoping that a lot of survey takers won't understand the question and answer wrong.

This isn't from a site that operates that way. They aren't all created equally. I guess if you had a condition where you create too much bone, you might need something like that.

@akalinus I think everybody has been. I avoid those like the plague most of the time. My time is worth something.

@snowy22315 Okay, I think I know what you mean. There are medical conditions that might do that. I was thinking about the surveys on sites that give you a few pennies for all your information. Thanks for clearing that up. I guess I was a little harsh but I have been on those survey sites.

@snowy22315 Me either but looked it up as I know there are conditions that cause overgrowth of bone.

@snowy22315 might be a trap question to screen out.

@Icydoll Could be, but I don't think think so it was just a list of supplements and you mark the ones you take..

That's a new one on me. I can't even imagine what could happen if someone tried to reduce bone density.

Well, if you didn't have a bone overgrowth problem...I am sure it would be dicey.

I could not think of a reason why someone would be interested in reducing their bone density. I have to work on keeping mine up.

That is a weird question, I see no reason why someone would want to reduce their bone density. This is extremely dangerous.

Apparently, there are conditions, as Nameless mentioned up above. They aren't well known though. I am always amazed by all the things that can potentially go wrong with someone,

@snowy22315 Well Osteochondroma is a bone tumor, I do not believe that it is cured reducing bone density. The only cure is surgery. Also the others two cannot be cured reducing the bone density I even asked to the doctor that I met yesterday and he was puzzled... never heard of a treatment that required to reduce bone density

People who have a low bone density could break bones more easily,

@snowy22315 Yeah, that's what I heard too. I wonder those who wants to reduce the density are getting paid or how.
