Not that I'm promoting violence or anything, but bands and artists do come up with some pretty "bang up" tunes referencing weapons. So, let's "take a shot" at finding some more songs as we continue our series... Here are a couple of tunes which are "straight shooters." Hope you like the choices and fun facts! Comments, musings, your own favorite weapon songs and trivia welcome... 1. "Hit Me with Your Best Shot"- Pat Benatar -This Benatar tune from 1980 was a Top Ten charter for this female rocker. The song is saying 'no matter what you throw at me, I can handle it." Thankfully, no shots (punches) are actually thrown in this violent titled tune. 2. "Shot Gun"- Junior Walker & All-Stars -This was Walker's signature hit and his first released recording reaching #4 on the Hot 100 Billboard charts. "Shotgun" was Walker's debut as a vocalist – when the singer who was hired to perform at the recording session did not show up, Walker stood in, and they kept that take. Fun fact: Walker played the saxophone solo on Foreigner's song "Urgent." TRIVIA CHALLENGE ***Now for our trivia music challenge for those who like to play along. See if you can guess these selections. Words in "quote marks" provide valuable clues! Name this week's tune, artist or facts: 1. Pat Benatar had another song in 1982 which had a violent reference to a "Battlefield" in the title. This tune describes "romantic heartbreak" perfectly using "wartime imagery." -Do you know the name of this song? 2. This song has nothing to do with violence or weapons but uses "shot" in the title. The artist said this tune could be about himself, someone "who tries to impress" others, "wanting to have the spotlight... to be a _____ shot." This idea came from this New York "Piano man's" drunking partying and subsequent next day's hangover. This musician's second marriage was to the model "Christie Brinkley." His commercial breakthrough and critical success came with the LP "The Stranger," which contained such songs as "Scenes from an Italian Restaurant" and "Movin' Out (Anthony's Song)." -Do you know the name of this "NY piano playing icon" and his "shot titled song?" 3. Bob Marley & the Wailers recorded this tune in 1973 with modest success. This artist covered the song a year later (1974), and it became his only #1 hit in the US. The song title said "someone had been shot" and that person was "John Brown." Fortunately, he did not "shoot the deputy." "This guitarist" was part of the influencial "bands Cream, Blind Faith, The Yardbirds and Derek & The Dominos." -Do you know the name of this "iconic British guitarist" and his cover of this shot song? If you're stuck and need additional hints just let me know in your response. I'll be glad to supply one. Or, as The Staple Singers would say, "I'll Take You There." Thanks for reading and responding to my music post!!! I will return with a new edition soon. Hope you can wait till then, lol. Stay tuned... Source- Wikipedia & songfacts.com

I saw this on MTV way back but they cut a lot of it out back then. I don't see the connection to MJ though, she's no match to his talent.

@rebelann I thought it funny with her and the girls dancing toward the guy. Reminded me of the Thriller video where Michael and the monsters shake and dance toward the girl. Your right, defititely not in MJ's league.

@RebeccasFarm Well, not as good but it struck me as similar. Of course, very few can shake it on the dance floor like the King of Pop!

I must admit I am facinated by stories of serial killers. And who dunnit crime mysteries. You are right people get drawn to the "why" someone would do that!!! Now I'm not promoting violent songs here actually many of them are just a double meaning for a violent term. Like Billy Joel's song Big Shot. The answer to trivia #2. Thanks for your comment and visiting...

Now that trivia quiz was not a "shot in the dark" for you... Good Job Billy Joel is one "Big Shot." And Eric Clapton did a great version of that Bob Marley song!
