Beanies from some special wool

I wrote about being given some wool by my brother-in-law after his wife passed away. She was an excellent knitter and included in the wool was the half-completed front and back of a jumper she was knitting for her husband. However, there was no matching wool to complete the garment. My BIL asked if I could make him a beanie from the wool as it was so soft. It was a shame to unpick the knitting but it was no use as it was. I ended up making five beanies, which you can see here. I thought he would choose one and the rest could go to an op shop (thrift shop) but he wants them all. Perhaps he’ll give the others to his grandsons.

Sorry about your family’s loss. That is nice that you made the beanies and he wants to keep them all it might be his way of hanging on to something of her

Yes, I think you are right. There was a lot of wool to dispose of at the beginning but I'm made a heap of beanies which will go to disadvantaged kids.

@JudyEv It takes time to come to terms. For some a few days and for others it's years.

You did an excellent job making the beanies. Maybe your BIL will wear one until it's worn out and then wear another one until it's worn out, etc. After all, the wool came from something his wife was making especially for him. This way he still has a reminder of her with him.

That thought crossed my mind too. I thought he'd only want one so I was a bit surprised when he wanted all the wool back in some form but he's happy with the beanies.

Thanks. Actually, I think knitting is softer than crochet but these are okay.

They will be nice and warm as I used a 'solid' stitch so there are no holes to let the cold air in.
