Should You Show It ?

The idiom: " To wear your heart on your sleeve" simply means -- you show your emotions openly. For example: " Just by looking at her face, l could tell that something was wrong."
Are you like that? Can someone tell if if you are have had or are having a bad day or week just by looking at your face?
Or are you like -"a closed book" - no one can guess how you are feeling or what your day has been like just by looking at you.
Which is better - wearing your heart on your sleeve? Of being like a closed book?

I think which is better depends on the context. My expression is generally neutral. I try to remember to smile though.

Yes you are right. At totally new places, I still manage to hide my feelings though things might not be in our control always.

@Kandae11 If I look sad or mad, people will feel bad - I don't want to drag them into my emotions. And then there might be the questions - things I may not want to talk about at that moment. So yah, I just hold back until I am ready.

I will do that with people I know. I will not hide my feelings

I think I'm more of an open book. I don't hide my feelings very well.

In what circumstances would I want to have people see my sorrow or pain?

Oh no, no one can tell much about me at all. I spent years in front of a mirror working on customers, so I am well able to act.

I wear my heart on my sleeve. If im having a bad day or good you will definitely know it. Although I try to be a nice person as often as possible. These days I try to keep a closed book and keep anger to myself and remain silent. Sometimes being a closed book is best. Especially to keep my blood pressure down.

It's good to be a closed book sometimes and solve your problems and sometimes you control having your heart on your sleeves when you are too upset.

Some people say that my face tells everything.
At times I have tried to hide my emotions but the feedback is that hiding things face wise is not my forte.
So now I do not try to hide that much and instead try to talk in a way that comes naturally to me.

That depends on the situation. If I'm with my family members and friends, I don't hide my feelings.
