Do you keep bananas in the refrigerator?

We bought some bananas, but they are overripe so fast. They ripe too fast. Their taste is bad. I wonder if keeping them in the fridge would make them last longer. Bananas are good for a day and after that they are overripe. How do you store your bananas? I wonder if keeping in the fridge won't affect them.

They turn all black if you place them in the refrigerator. I place on the counter in front of the windows, where it is cooler.

When bananas have become very ripe and soft, that's when people mash them to make banana bread, muffin, cookies, pancake, smoothies, etc. Try searching recipes for overripe bananas.

I heard it is not good to keep the bananas in the refrigerator. I heard a method which can keep the bananas fresh for a longer time. That's to use a tissue or film to wrap the stems of the banana. It is also better to hang up the bananas.

No, they aren't meant to be refrigerated. Try making banana bread with the bananas that are over ripe.

No, don't ever put bananas that aren't peeled yet in the fridge. That will make the peels go black and you'll think the banana is bad. Instead, take the bananas apart. Don't peel them just break them apart so they are single bananas. Then, get a piece of aluminum foil and wrap the stem part of the banana with the foil. That will make them stay yellow longer. If the bananas are still green-ish, that will keep them that way longer.

@ifa225 Thanks... I usually eat all the bananas we buy before they have a chance to get overripe.

We keep ours on the counter or dining table so we can quickly grab one after meal.

I am wondering the same thing. There are some seller keep the banana in the frozen after they fried it with flour (like McD fried chicken). But I have not tried it yet. So I don't know if the taste will stay the same

Most of the time I keep ours on the counter because my kids like yellow and lightly spotted Bananas usually that is when they are the ripest and the most like but everyone is different. Usually if you wrap the tip of the buddle in plastic that will help slow it down. Since we get lots of flies in my house, I do place them in the refrigerator it helps keep the bugs away. Banans usually don't make it more then 2 days in my house because my kids will eat them all.

We never put bananas in the ref. Once we bought them, they last for two days. Most of us here love banana. We eat them during mealtime.
