The potatoes are sprouting in spite of the heat.

Three weeks ago I didn´t know whether to throw away some very sprouted potatoes or plant them. Anita came just when I was thinking about it and she helped me plant them. I had no hope for them but at least they would not be mixed with the good ones. Last week Anita came very excited to tell me that the potato plants were doing beautifully. I went to see and there they were. Nice and proper. I am starting to count chicken before the eggs hatch and I´m wondering if we will have enough potatoes even for a few for me and a few for Anita. I will of course share with them our bounty if I get more than one Have you ever planted sprouted potatoes?

Good luck. I always plan the too sprouted potatoes. I do not get a big crop, but a few kilos is better than nothing.

@marguicha There is an area in the vegetable garden where I plant nothing, they are underground, so let them grow there.

I learned how to cut potatoes so they could be planted and grow more potatoes when I was little. We always had a potato crop during the summer and had enough potatoes for our large family all winter. What you've done will result in a crop of potatoes in the fall. You'll need to ask Anita's boyfriend to harvest them for you, though. Dad usually took two of the older boys out with him to dig them up and pick them out of the dirt.

Anita doesn´t have a BF. But she is the kind of person that is not afraid of work. I´m sure that she will do it and anyway they were just a few potatoes.

@marguicha Oh, I'm mixing you and Anita up with someone else on myLot. I'm sorry. I'm glad she'll be able to dig them up for you. It shouldn't be too difficult.

We did that but Anita also planted one in a pot. I think that the potted one will have to be transplanted to a bigger pot.

@askme123 If you have space and a loose soil, you will have better crops in the ground.

They will hopefully do great for you. I have grown them. I just hate digging them back up

Nope but lately I planted sprouted cloves of garlic and they're growing now for almost a week.

I have planted garlic too. I could use in the kitchen the tender green garlic sprouts.

That’s about the only thing I can grow because you can forget about them and they’ll still grow. If you water them they’ll probably grow better though. I usually forget to even do that.

I have and they've done well. With luck, you'll get at least a few meals from them.
