I seem to forget how to clean these new products most of us have in the home. I checked online for the best way and thought I would share it with you all.
It is no longer a good idea to clean your TVs or laptop computer screens with Windex or other cleaning solutions. Why? Because the screen is no longer made of glass which could withstand the Windex solution. These screens are now made with OLED and LCD panels and the alcohol, lauramine oxide, or ammonia in Windex and other cleaners can damage these panels.
Actually the less liquid used the better. Use a soft cloth or towel, microfiber is a great choice. Don't apply pressure. If you have greasy, oily stains add a little warm water to the cloth.
It has also been found that 81% of cell phones tested had harmful bacteria and fecal matter on their surfaces. (Think about the many places where you might lay your cell phone.) Again, to clean them use a microfiber or other soft cloth. You can use 70% isopropyl alcohol and distilled water so it does leave mineral deposits like tap water will do. You can also use cotton balls to get into small grooves.
Remote controls and smartwatches can be cleaned in this same way.

Thank you for this reminder... I used to have to remind people all the time not to use Windex or other commercial cleaners on their television, laptop or phone screens. You wouldn't believe the number of televisions and phones that people tried to return after they used Windex on them!

@celticeagle Did I tell you about the young couple who returned a box of used diapers? The management at Walmart told us to accept them and let the lady have another box of new diapers free...
Walmart does that to themselves. It seems weird to me.

We sometimes use Sanitizers and some Hard and Soft surface spray when we come back from outside, since Covid times.
The warm water use for clothes is a good idea.
For Laptop, I mostly use a dry cloth but wet cleaning is also due.
Some really good tips shared here!

I usually use a damp clean cloth because the damp wetness attracts the dust and dirt,

Good idea. I have just used the Windex and other cleaners so much down through the years I have to remind myself that these are no longer glass-screened televisions I'm cleaning.

@celticeagle as a little girl of eight I loved to take a rag from my mom to clean around the lviign room, Mom always tod me to be careful but I enjoyed spraying the lemon scented wood cleaner on furniture and wiping it clean, If it could clean wood most likely it could clean other things, You know a child's logic. I sprayed the stuff on the TV screen luckily only on one side but for a long time we got to watch blurry back and white TV

I have a special solution and cloths I purchased specifically for the TV screens. Thank you for reminding members how they should clean these special screens.
