Happy St. Valentine’s Day Massacre Day! Oh, it’s also Jimmy Hoffa’s birthday. Oh, a bunch of pink-wrapped candy to you, too! I’m not eating at Chuy’s today because Valentine’s Day on Taco Tuesday spells a LONG LINE at Mexican restaurants. How about a TV theme song instead? This one won’t put you in a romantic mood, but…. (Theme From) The Monkees - The Monkees The Pre-Fab Four! And how about Boyce and Hart? It was a magical time for them all. Tommy Boyce and Bobby Hart wrote a lot of the Monkees’ songs, had a hit of their own (“I Wonder What She’s Doing Tonight”), and even appeared on Bewitched and I Dream of Jeannie. You could do worse than to hitch your wagon to the Monkees. Yes, it was hokey, but as MTV pointed out 20 years later, their show was the genesis of the music video format. We only have one left, Mickey Dolenz. It was a fun time and a fun show…with some great music. (Theme From) The Monkees Written by Tommy Boyce and Bobby Hart Recorded by the Monkees From The Monkees, 1966-68 We’re just tryin’ to be friendly:

It was indeed. The Beatles never had a “Beatlemobile.”

I just read about them in Sally Field's autobiography. The Monkees shows were being shot next door or somesuch.

They were all made by the same company, Screen Gems. I think Boyce and Hart were on The Flying Nun (Sally Fields’ TV series), too. Apparently those TV production lots are a lot smaller than we think!

One really awesome show and always made me smile I do believe one day ai will invest in the DVDs. I discovered something interesting on Amazon the more popular the show once was the more expensive the DVDs until suddenly the price plunges at one time and you can grab them for a song. I keep an eye on all the ones I want and will be ready to strike when needed,

I looked at the prices on eBay, everything from $40 to a couple hundred bucks.

Hey! Hey! We're the Monkees, We're just monkeyin' around.....Of course I know this song; and I watched the show. So sad we are losing so many people from that era. :-(

I know. I saw that my favorite wrestler when I was a kid, Jerry Jarrett, passed away yesterday.

Oh, blast from the past "I Dream of Jeannie" and "Theme From The Monkees" all in one post I really enjoyed that zany show. And a chance to hear a song from some great songwriters like Boyce and Hart, each week perfect together! It was hard to choose a favorite Beatle I mean Monkee, lol.

I think it said every Monkees album except Head had at least two Boyce & Hart songs.

@dgobucks226 — it was the movie soundtrack. That could have been the reason.

@FourWalls Yes, wasn't Head the album where the Monkees wanted to record their own songs?
