Sharing food with neighbors.

Hello everyone, good morning, how are you today? Have a nice day. Now, I will tell you a little about sharing food with neighbors. Even though I live in a big city like Jakarta, I still feel the care and togetherness with my neighbors here. We had some good neighbours, who used to help each other out, and share food with each other. A few days ago one of them sent us some mangoes which I immediately made into pickled fruit. Yes, even though I can buy mangoes at the fruit shop, but that's not what I'm talking about, I feel their sincerity when they share, and it makes us very happy. Some of the others also often give me the results of their cooking, such as a plate of fried noodles, chicken curry, rendang, cakes, pudding, etc., we always accept them with pleasure. It was our habit to take turns sharing food, just to please the neighbours. We love them, like our own family. Right as people say "neighbor is the closest relative". He is the first to help us when we need help, before distant relatives. So we must try to maintain good relations with neighbors, life will be fun if you have good neighbors. Now, how about you? Have you done good with neighbors? Don't forget to share some food with them. I hope that you also have good neighbors like mine. Thank you.

@ifa225 Funny trick. That's okay. It's good for us to pretend we don't know about their ugliness, as long as they don't openly do it in front of us, just let it be, don't think about it too much.

Ahaha, I know how it feels to be you. So, are you confused whether he is a good neighbor or a bad neighbor? I don't know, I also sometimes wonder, someone can be very sweet when in front of me, but vice versa when behind me.

Neighbors who get along well are very nice, I once lived in a house with bad neighbors on either side, I didn't feel comfortable there.

No, I don't live in a neighborhood such as yours. People here keep to themselves. We are friendly and speak in passing but it doesn't go any further.

Maybe because it's become a habit there like that? Every place has its own unique customs.

@RubyHawk Usually in rural areas their social and togetherness spirit is very high compared to big cities. But I think it depends on the personality of each person and the habits of the local community.

@allknowing In our country sharing food is a long-standing custom, we consider it a good thing. Maybe different from your country.

We do not share cooked food here, but we offer the products of our garden when we have an excess in summer. My neighbors often give me cherries and apricots I give them tomatoes and zucchini.

I have a very elderly neighbor man who lost his wife last year. He is so alone. I don't think he ever learned to actually cook; he warms things up but that's all. He absolutely loves homemade soup, and I make a lot of different kinds. I share by giving him a container, usually once a week. He is so appreciative. When I am gone out of town, he rolls my trash can to the street for pick-up and takes the can back to its spot by the garage afterwards. I never even have to ask. I feel sorry for him, he is so lost without his wife. They were married over 60 years.

@astutimeliana723 They had one daughter. I truly think that she only visits when she wants to 'borrow' money from her Dad. He loves her, but she is not good to him. She lives about an hour away, so she is close enough to visit if she wanted to.

@MarieCoyle I thought it would be better if the daughter invited the father to live together in her house.
