Using my sick leave...

Good morning from this side of the planet
. It's 8:30 AM here and it's a bright sunny warm day
. Well, I should have been at work by now on this Monday morning, but here I am lazy in my sofa with my cup of tea. Not keeping well and so I am using my sick leave for this month. Nothing serious about my health. It's just the monthly visitor and the cramps and discomfort with it. Also, I have not be at peace of mind and well rested on the weekend. My elder daughter got sick in her college hostel and her fever was too high. She js quite far from home and so it causes us to worry more. A call from hostel warden in midnight caused me panic as her fever was 103 and not coming down. She felt weak and dizzy. She was taken to hospital in midnight when her roomie noticed that she was in bad shape. I called my brother to go and pick her up. He took a three hours drive and brought her to home. I have few doctors in family and now she is in safe hands. After few doses of medicine and some home care by my brother and his wife, she is feeling much better.. I had a video call with them last night and then I could sleep a bit. I had not slept since Friday night. My husband has left today to see her. His flight will take off in some time and he should be there by afternoon. I couldn't go as my younger one is writing her exams from tomorrow and I needed to stay with her.
Had a chat with my brother's family and my daughter this morning and she looked fresh enjoying her breakfast there. Her blood reports will be there by today afternoon to rule out any serious infections. It's a boon if you have some good doctors in family.
I want to take rest the whole day. Will keep the chores limited to bare minimum cooking..i want to ignore all the chores and rest today. I will be online and even mylot to kill the boredom. Nothing much planned. Niece has left for her college. Younger daughter is busy studying in her room for tomorrow's exams. I would lazy around on couch with some music and my phone in hand for mylotting
Take care. Have a good time in your mylot corner

Thank you Rebecca for all the kind words. No matter how much I tried to distract myself on weekends, I couldn't relax with all the though troubling me. Once I talked to ny elder daughter last night,I got some peace of mind and could sleep better last night. I would just relax today.
Husband wanted to see her, so he left. It was not needed as such, but you know how fathers feel about their little girls throughout life. And I thought it would give some comfort to her too.

@LadyDuck The blood reports were good, nothing concerning. It was a seasonal allergy thing.
Thank you for your concern. She is all okay now but a bit of cough is still there. Doctor feels that it would take some time for cough to fully go. Her anti allergy medicine has been extended to another week.
She missed one education trip yesterday and was bit upset. My husband is there with her. He will drop her tonight or tomorrow morning to her campus. She wants to catch up with all week assignments and studies on weekend.
I am doing good now.

Thank you. Thursday and Friday nights were horrible ones. She had very high temperature. I couldn't sleep with all the updates that I got from the hostel warden. She couldn't talk or open her eyes. Once she came to my brother's home, I felt relieved. Her blood reports are okay and nothing alarming. She is also doing good. She would leave back for her campus in a day or two, most probably this weekend.

@LindaOHio Thank you. I slept a lot today in the daytime. I took two naps, one after breakfast and one at my usual nap time in the afternoon.

Oh well you seem to be going through a lot.
Thank God your brother and his wife helped your daughter.
Such things can be really bothersome.
It can throw things in complete disarray.
I too have taken a leave.
I could have tried to work but apart from the Stomach ache, headache in between is also bothersome.
Plus I could not sleep well yesterday night.
I would try to catch up on sleep today.
Another issue is that while the days ate heating up fast but the night temperature dips quite a bit.
So now we are thinking of the Fan and Blanket combo
Well, that's life.
Nothing predictable!

Actually it's the seasonal changes that you mentioned. More than half the class is sick.
Please take care of your health. Hope all is well.

My case has been vaguely characterised as "Viral Diarrhoea".
The bigger matter of concerns are that I did not had anything significant from outside and perhaps we might have some outstation visit in the coming months.
We can still control what we eat at homes, but cannot eat what we get to eat outside.

Sick leave is on emergency basis. A day before notice is enough. I am not a regular employee there, I have a part time hourly rate basis job. I get eight sick leaves in a year. Regular employees get around 15 in one academic year. My sick leaves will expire in March. Regular employees can get monetary compensation for sick leaves that they have not utilised. I can't. So I prefer to use them on random days. I have used six so far. I will use other two in March.

@Adie04 Yes, I am part time. Actually I am a special educator and counselor. I work with two different schools on different days of the week. I take therapy sessions and remedial classes and paid hourly rates.

@arunima25 But I feel it is still appropriate since you are a part time employee, if I'm not mistaken.

It is good to use your sick leave in this kind of situation. Please let us know how both of your daughters are doing. It is good to have family that can step in for you, but no one worries as much as a mother.

My husband is with her at my brother's home. He is working from there for this week as he took this permission from the office. He will drop her to the campus this weekend and come back here.
My younger one wrote her first exam today and it went well. Even she is relieved that her sister is doing okay now.
