An overdue book returned to a library in Massachusetts 56 years later

A book that was authored by Robert Arthur named "The Mystery Of The Green Ghost" that was checked out from a library in Montague Massachusetts in 1967 by a former resident of Montague resident did leave a note inside of the book apologizing for the delay of returning the book to the library.
The name of the person who checked out the book in Montague was not mentioned. The good thing about the person who returned the book back to the library will not be fined for late charges returning the book since the library stopped fining anyone who returns a book back to the library last year,
Since the book is in good condition to be circulated. The book will be in the library though.

@Adie04 I guess the person who checked out the book as a child and is now a senior person or a relative of the person who checked out the book.

Neither did I even though I have not been to a library in over 18 years.

@Deepizzaguy Eighteen years is a long time to be away from the library. I've always gone to the library regularly. I might have shipped a few years when my boys were growing up and I was working.

It shows some good character to admit that an error was made.

That is true since a missing book that was checked out from a library that was not returned until 56 years later is a very long time.

I am an agreement with you that the name of the book has a nice title since it is based on the works of the Master Of Suspense. the late Sir Alfred Hitchcock.

That reminds me of the episode on Seinfeld where Jerry has an overdue library book from the 70's.

That is what I am wondering why the person decided to return the book after 56 years. The person did admit remorse of bringing back the book late.

I guess that the person who returned the book is a relative of the person who checked out the book or the person who found the book did not realize that the book did not belong inside the home.
