Nap time is over now and it is not so hot. So I will start to cook dinner now. I am thinking about marinating the meat and then sealing it and use my Dutch oven to simmer until fovever. I´m not much interested in spending time in cooking and the Dutch oven can make a meat that is a little tough so soft that it can be cut with a spoon.
What I like about using today the Dutch oven is that Anita can wash it on Wednesday. My hands are getting so frail that I am afraid to let the pot go and land on my feet.
I have onions, carrots, sweet peppers and, at the end, some tender green beans. Do you always prepare casseroles the same way or you vary them depending on what´s in the fridge? For me, the final recipe is the refrigerator

I don´t have a slow cooker. I have the Dutch oven and a pressure cooker. But I prefer to cook casseroles in the Dutch oven. The taste of the juices are better.

@marguicha Slow cookers can taste just as well. Hubs complemented the last beef stew which I browned and then popped into the slow cooker.

@DianneN I am not buying more kitchen gadgets. I decided after the pandemia that I would stop making giant parties for my birthday. So I invite 2 couples at the most. I like to cook but try to cook as little as I can because my fingers hurt a lot. The big Dutch oven can cook enough to make 3 or 4 batches of very good and juicy meat stews. Yesterday I decided that I would buy the meat for stews at a butchers and not at the supermarket. I thought for a moment that I could buy a Thermomix but then I said no. With that money I could pay for the best restaurants for the rest of my life

@wolfgirl569 Right. Once I bought the best crab meat to make crab pie to special company. I read about 5 different recipes as it was the first time I was doing it and decided that I would use twice the amount of crab as I had bought too much. My recipe was much better, of course

It was good but the onion juice over the rice was better than the meat. I won´t buy that cut any longer.

@Tina30219 It is not bad, but I like meat with more fat than this one had.

I always wanted to have a Dutch oven but never had it first in my list. Then, some years ago, I showed it to my friend Alejandra while window shopping telling her that I used to want one in my youth. On my birthday she asked me what I wanted for a present and I said (as I do now) to bring something to drink as I´d have all the eatables. She called the rest of my friends and they bought it as a present from all of them. I was a widow already and would never have had enough money to buy it then. So this, as many other pots and pans, has an added value.

@marguicha - Your friend Alejandra has been so kind. The Dutch oven is expensive. I bought many years ago when we still lived in Monte Carlo. I take good care of it.

Sounds wonderful. We are having fish fillet and macaroni salad. I try to vary them by ingredients and the herbs I use.

That sounds delicious. Usually, I put whatever meat I have and veggies into my slow cooker and then let it cook for hours and I have a meal,
