This week The Leibniz Institute for Natural Product Research and Infection Biology announced that they have both created a very effective fungicide and they have decided to name it after Keanu Reeves. They feel that his reputation of portraying assassins in his films warrants his name being used on this new killing fungicide. This "keanumycin" met with Reeve's approval and he said, in a thread on Redditt recently, "They should have called it John Wick...but that's pretty cool...and surreal for me" and then "But thanks, scientist people! Good luck, and thank you for helping us." The reason for the production of this fungicide was fungal organisms such as Candida albicans which cause yeast infections in humans. They have grown continually resistant to existing treatments. Keanumycin will kill fungal infections but leave healthy cells alone. Below is a link to the complete story:

@celticeagle I have also heard some good stories about him as a human. He has not been very lucky despite being famous and having money.

The fungicide is, after all, a "good guy" as I feel Reeves is too

I don't know if I'd be happy having a fungicide named after me, but if he is, it's all ok with me.

I agree with what he said. That they should have used the character in the movie's name, not his. But, I see their reasoning too.

I'm surprised that Keanu agreed to it all.
